Good News !! in 2015

They hired me onto the permanent staff at Sephora ! She only waited about two hours after my interview on Wednesday to tell me the news :)

I really wish a PT-Benefits position would open up. That would basically guarantee me 25 hours a week, which is perfect since Cori works about 12 hours a week and between the two of us we’d have a full time job.

They also gave me a raise ! THAT was unexpected. And Rachel said after my training (6-8 weeks) they may revisit my wage again.

I’ve been getting 3 days a week, 5-6 hour shifts. That is a lot better than one 4-hour shift a week. Still not ideal but I’m not complaining at the moment. I really think it had to do with how many seasonal people they hired (too many). And only 5 of the 22 ended up staying (though a few of them were overnight recovery crew and it’s not a position they keep outside Christmas).

So needless to say my stress levels have gone down. I was also able to pick up a couple shifts in the next couple weeks.

Cori starts back at school on Monday and I’m not sure what his practicum hours will be. Luckily he has two classes on Monday and two on Wednesday, so that leaves him 2-3 days a week to do practicum and he can keep his weekend work hours. I just hope he doesn’t burn out.

In other news, the apartment hasn’t had any hot water today. Not even lukewarm water–just ice cold. Neither of us worked so it wasn’t a huge deal but I really hope there’s hot water for us tomorrow since we both work (I like my showers and feel better when I’m clean). So that has been annoying as hell.

We also slow cooked a chicken in a slow cooker (3 quart, given to me brand new by Amanda, which was actually given to her by her stepmother who received it from a coworker for Secret Santa LOL) and it was INCREDIBLE. All we did was rub it with some olive oil and make a spice mix of salt, black pepper, cayenne pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, rosemary, sage, thyme, oregano, and cumin. So freaking good. We had been wanting a slow cooker for a while and to get a cute small one for free was perfect.

I want to write more but not feeling it. I mostly just wanted to share the news that I will still be gainfully employed for the foreseeable future (even though the hours are still a bit scant… they have been better since the seasonal team has gone).

P.S. Zane (Cori’s brother) left a week ago. It was really great having him here and being able to host him. We made lots of food and goodies at home which I think Zane appreciated since he doesn’t cook. And everything was delicious. I don’t want to brag but Cori and I are awesome cooks and I’m glad we both enjoy making food as much as the other :)
