lockdown, day: dunno in untitled entry

actually day five of potentially four weeks. depending how seriously people take it. i have some doubts. the messaging around the lockdown has all been simple, straight forward, easy to understand. it’s not hugely complicated. but i do wonder if a simple diagram drawn with a crayon might be a more effective way to reach some people.

it’s probably too early to say we’re ahead of this thing but we haven’t yet seen cases rise in hundreds or thousands per day. my next infusion is april 14. this time last week i was wondering if, by then, the medical day unit would still be a day unit and not just a room stuffed full of people on ventilators and nurses kitted out like cosmonauts. if/when it gets worse i don’t know whether to call ahead of the infusion or just go to the hospital. there’s a hand washing station at the entrance, when i went for my last infusion the receptionist said “thank you” when i washed my hands with the sanitizer there. i’m guessing the reaction would be different if i took the bottle, poured it over my head and bathed in it.

ah, well.

there’s a small list of projects to do around here in the meantime. top of that list (as always) is ‘flammenwerfer’ but, sadly, that’s likely to have a line struck through it as i have no idea if it would actually work as a disinfectant.

it’s raining today so we can’t make concrete to fix the foundation at the back of the bathroom. it’s only going to take a few days. but at least the rain will be watering the two dozen or so cabbage trees i planted near the beach the other day. over summer i’ve collected about the same amount of seedlings from around the place. i’ll gather some flax seeds and more beach grass seeds soon. i’ve finally figured out how to get the beach grass seeds to germinate, you have to rub the seed pods between your palms to dislodge the seeds.

the old bugger rang the other day, furious that they were still letting people back into the country. the last time i visited him the duck pen was still empty. and now there’s two ducks in there. waddling to and fro. quacking. so he’s had someone visit at some stage. i told him if i go up to the garden i won’t be going anywhere near the house. and i will have to go up there again at some stage. someone’s been in there burgling my potatoes and he doesn’t know who. so… potentially… flammenwerfer is back on the list? no, that’s, no. don’t even think about it. i’ll just dig up my potatoes. yeah. okay. when it stops raining.

how to make a flame thrower

oh, oops. wrong window.
