Just had a wonderful few days with our daughter, Vicki. She came up from Cornwall on Sunday and went back today. A short visit but always worthwhile.
She got to see her big sister, Paula, with nephews and niece as well, and they love her to bits and never want her to go back!
Weather has been bloody cold here. It snowed on Boxing Day, and then just froze, so it’s been a bit iffy, driving wise, but not too bad.
My bike has been wrapped up and battery put on trickle charge as I can’t see me riding it for a few weeks now. Next week we get all the new parts for the kitchen delivered and they are being stored in the garage until needed, so I won’t even be able to get my bike out should I want to! Also started and then covered Lee’s Mustang. We had a problem with it , in that we couldn’t get it started. One of our Son-in-law’s mates came round and got it going. Carb was full of muck and it took him nearly 5 hours to clean it all out, plus the battery had gone kaput. But it’s all running now so we keep starting it once a week to keep everything running, and are waiting for a differential seal for it as it has been standing so long the present one has sprung a small leak. I think when we get it all sorted Lee will be selling it as he just doesn’t use it at all, and it’s a lot of money just to have sitting on the drive.
I did really well for pressies this Xmas as usual. Got a new Gas cap for the bike, a black one with Union Jacks on it. Fits perfectly with the bike. Also got a new leather bag for the back, for when I go touring/camping on it. Got all the CDs I wanted as well. The Script, Pink Floyd, Status Quo, Queen, Crazy Crazy Nights (compilation) and Sounds of the ’80’s which is a compilation of 80s songs sung by modern day stars. Absolutely brilliant, all of them. So I’ve spent a lot of time downloading onto my laptop ( I bought myself a MacBook Air. So impressed with it!) And will be getting around to downloading them onto the iPods soon. I also got a a new Lens for my new camera. Still using Nikon but have moved up to the D5300 now. Got the usual smellies, boxers and socks. Also got a magnetic bracelet, which is supposed to help with arthritis. Jury’s out on this one, I guess we’ll see in time.
Taking the dogs out for a walk last saturday I slipped on ice just as we got back onto the drive and sprained my left knee. That was sore for a couple of days but is recovering well now.
Had to take Harley, the Collie, to the vets yesterday. He started limping on monday afternoon and we didn’t know what he’d done. He’s coming up to 9 years old so we wondered if it might be onset of doggy arthritis. Vet says it might be, or it might just be a strain if he’s slipped on the snow/ice. We were given pain killers and have to take him back in 3 weeks.
OK folks, all that remains for this issue is to wish you all an excellent New Year, and I hope 2015 brings you all that you wish for. ( and for my Southern Hemisphere friends, hope you had a good time!)
