[1] What did you do in 2014 that you have never done before?

I got married!
I finished my first year of teaching.

[2] Did you keep all of last years resolutions?

No…I started off well working out and cooking at home, but that didn’t last. Trying again this year!

[3] Have you any resolutions for next year?

Working out 3-4 days/week.
Eating more meals at home (less take out!)
Hanging out with friends more.

[4] What countries did you visit?

Technically, we went to Jamaica, but we didn’t leave the boat because of the crappy weather on our honeymoon.

[5] What would you like to have in 2015 that you didn’t have in 2014?

I would like to have less stress and more money.

[6] What date in 2014 will remain etched in your memory?

Here comes the sappy…June 22nd, 2014, my wedding day! It has seriously been the best day of my life so far.

[7] What was your biggest achievement of the year?

Finishing my masters degree in music education!

[8] What was your biggest failure?

Going to the gym and keeping myself in shape. I’ve gained a lot of weight this year.

[9] Did you suffer any illness or injury?

Nothing major. I have a bunch of little things I can finally go to the doctor about since I finally have health insurance.

[10] What was the best thing you bought?

Feirabend vocal development kit. This has helped my teaching so much!

[11] Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?

Some of my students and their parents :(

[12] Where did most of your money go?

Rent…bills…car…

[13] What did you get really really really excited about?

Getting married

Compulsively eat.
Oversleep on the weekends.

[17] How will you be spending Christmas?

I had Christmas dinner here at our apartment with Dann’s father and brother, the brothers girlfriend and some friends.

[18] Which OD users did you meet for the first time?

I’ve never met any OD or PB users.

[19] Did you fall in love in 2014?

We fell in love 5 years ago, but I’ve fallen more in love with my husband since we got married.

[20] How many one night stands?

None. Have had lots of sexy time with the hubby though!

[22] Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?

No, I don’t hate anyone. I don’t even dislike anyone. I’ve gotten people I dislike out of my life.

[23] What was/were the best books you read?

Unfortunately, with grad school, there was very little time for fun reading. I just started Alice’s Piano, which so far is very good.

[24] What was your greatest musical discovery?

Teacher moment…how creative my students can be! I teach general music, choir and beginner orchestra. It’s amazing when I ask students to make up something, how they can speak with music. My students can create entire hip hop beats using a pen, their hand and a table. Very cool!

[26] What did you want and not get?

I was fortunate and got everything I wanted this year.

[27] What was your favourite film this year?

We rented a movie with Hugh Jackman in it where he was trying to find his daughter and his neighbors daughter and they were being held captive by another neighbor with a special needs son and Jackman and his neighbor tortured the special needs boy…so good! cannot remember the title.

[28] What did you do on your birthday and how old were you?

I turned 26…I don’t remember what I did…dinner?

[29] What one thing made your year more satisfying?

Finishing my masters degree!

[30] How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2014?

Professional, but comfortable. Again, I teach general music to students prek-5th grade. I am constantly moving, jumping, dancing and being a weirdo, but I have to look professional. Stretchy pants and 3/4 sleeve shirts are my friends!

[31] What kept you sane?

Dann and Chai lattes.

[32] Which celebrity did you fancy the most?

None. I don’t keep up much with celebrities.

[33] Which political issue stirred you the most?

The issue of police brutality against unarmed black people. I live in NYC and teach inner city students. This issue reflects the community I teach and the community I live in. I also have friends that are cops and am very conflicted about this whole issue.

[35] Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned this year.

You cannot do it all. Learn to prioritize and don’t worry if not everything on your list gets done that day. All things will be finished eventually.

Did anyone close to you give birth?

Yes! Three friends and there are a bunch more who are pregnant!

Did anyone close to you die?

Yes. One of my professors from my undergrad. He was a wonderful man.

Whose behaviour merited celebration?

My husband officially became a funeral director in February.

What do you wish you’d done more of?

Hung out with friends.

How will you spend your New Year?

With my husband and parents seeing Elton John!!

Who did you miss?

A couple friends whom I’ve tried to stay in touch with, but it’s been difficult.

Who was the best new person you met?

A bunch of teacher friends from the organization I work for. They are fantastic!
