My mother-in-law get along, some of the time. Everyone assures me that she is a kind and generous person (with emotions, as she likes to point out) but I see a totally different side to her. She’s very eager to lend a hand, but she also knows exactly how to manipulate her son and how to piss me off completely.

For example, right this instant she is talking about how she is dying (she isn’t) and how she thinks it is lung or liver cancer and she is diabetic (she isn’t). The following is what is said this moment.

MIL: and my liver is bad and I don’t feel well and I just know I’m probably dying.

Concerned Kid (CK) : Are you serious?

MIL: Well, I don’t feel good most of the time.

CK: When did you doing to the doctor?

MIL: Well, I’m didn’t, but I don’t feel good and I’m tired all of the time. I’m sure it is lung cancer or liver cancer. Maybe both!

CK: Um, are you going to go to the doctor?

MIL: No. I just know. I’ve seen life and been in the medical field to know what is going on.

CK: Mom, you were a CNA, not a M.D.

MIL: (gleefully) I’m diabetic too!

CK: How do you know that?

MIL: Because I get dizzy.
