I am probably, at heart, a street photographer.

I can posed shots fine:

Fig 1

And I am working to get posed shots now,

Fig 2

using the lights and shadows and background

Fig 3
to create a feel sufficient to burn away the seams of illusion

Fig 4

Aiming to create, in short, photos at events

Fig 5

that can compete with individual photos in organised, staged shoots.

Maybe even stuff that starts to look like art.

Fig 6

But even though I am learning to do these things, to create shots from scratch, and I would hope I’m not too bad, I’m finding I don’t enjoy them as much.

Not to say that I don’t enjoy them; I do.

But.

They don’t speak to me as clearly as what I would prefer to be doing:

Shots that capture a moment in transition

Fig 7

Here a moment, gone in the next– serendipitous images captured in micro 4/3

fig 8 (although I confess to cheating and asking the No-Face to stand next to him)

I’m looking for Cartier-Bresson’s “moment”.

Which means… street.

All photos are from my AFA day 1 (Album here: )

and AFA day 3 album here

collection

Fig 1: Vienna West and Jonathon Mac, as Prussia and..er, sorry, not sure, from Hetalia. If anyone wants to enlighten me please do so.

Fig 2: Akikawa Narumi and Miyuki Ayakama as Monomi and Monokuma from Dangan Ronpa

Fig 4: Jaye Tempest as Go Go Tamago from Big Hero 6 Album here:

Fig 5 : Miki Kuro as fanart Kirito, Sword Art Online

Fig 6: ?? as Seras Victoria, from Hellsing.

Fig 7: Alexander Li, Marcus Yong, Carlos Stark Greywind and Okami Kenpachi and a WHOLE bunch of milsim cosers enacting a massive mexican standoff. (Marcus Yong is the only sane guy here, trying to persuade the guy with a 4-barrel M203 NOT to pull the trigger.)

Fig 8: Glenn Yoong as Death Gun (Sword Art online) and… dunno who as NO Face (from Spirited Away)
