Weekend, continued.
Sometime during this whirlwind, Evan called to confirm our movie date. I made sure that I was pleasant on the phone because unlike Russell, I’m really interested in Evan.
Evan and I met for a cocktail before the movie started. Sometimes I can’t believe that we have an 11 ½-year age difference. We’re still definitely in the feeling-out stage, but I can tell he’s interested. I just hope I don’t start liking him too soon. I always fall into that trap and end up disappointed.
During our pre-movie conversation, I drank a vodka martini (very dirty), and we started talking about gin martinis (of which I never drink), so he suggested we split one. I asked for two straws! Only had a couple sips, so I’m not counting that as one of my two!
During the movie, I had this strange craving for him to pull the classic date move and put his arm around me, but alas, he didn’t. I don’t think we’re quite there yet. Amelie is a darling French movie, and I was touched by its sweetness. The lead character, Amelie is so cute. She’s always trying to strategize and manipulate wonderful situations for people…including herself. But when it comes right down to it, she’s too chicken to follow through on her own behalf. It was funny, and I really loved the ending.
After the movie, Evan and I went to grab a quick bite. Neither one of us was starving, but we were both a little hungry, and I certainly didn’t want to go yet! We split a sandwich and I ordered my second (technically) drink, and that was all she wrote for my alcohol consumption!
Conversation was pleasant. I love the fact that Evan is really smart and talkative, but what I loved even more this time was that I was able to keep up with him! When we talked about the movie, the screenwriter in him kind of took over and he was reciting technicalities. And I argued with him. And I liked it!! I didn’t feel intimidated in the least!!
I know something like that must seem small and almost meaningless, but to me…it’s like a milestone. When I met LDL, our chemistry together was so out of control that I would break out in a sweat before I ever even thought about arguing a point with him!
Once again, I didn’t want to leave. But it was 10:45, and my 7:30A.M. meetings come all too early! This time he walked me to my car, and we hugged, and he gave me a peck on the cheek. I must have looked disappointed, because he told me he was still fighting a cold, and then he just shrugged and gave me the softest peck on my lips. Nice. Really nice.
Home and to bed.
What a wonderful end to my weekend.
