Name: Ethan
Age: 31
Occupation: Owns a graphic design company, among other things. His claim to fame that cast him into the local celebrity pool is being the owner of the biggest indie record label in town. He doesn’t do that anymore (as of last year), but works on special highly visible projects. I am pretty much in awe.
We met: For sushi and sake at a cool place I’d never been before.
We did: Ate sushi and drank sake while I blabbered nonstop. Then, when they kicked us out at midnight, walked over to my favorite Brazilian place where I proceeded to blabber even more, only now drunkenly so. The waiters ignored us, so we kept going up to the bar to get drinks. They finally kicked us out at around 2:30.
Convo: What’s a girl to say? Apparently, everything when she has a first date with a guy she finds utterly fascinating. I mean, damn girl, can’t you shut your mouth? You’re sitting there with a guy who’s cooler than you could ever dream to be….and you’re hopelessly telling him your whole life story without even pausing to take a breath!! Actually, we both talked quite a bit. My problem was, I spent so much energy trying to make sure that I said the right things, that I couldn’t concentrate. He told me all about his companies, his bands, going on tour, girls fighting over him, his family, his dreams and aspirations. And I can recall chunks of information, but I don’t remember everything he said. Heck, I don’t remember everything I said! You’d think I’d finally learn one day to just settle down and relax and just enjoy. But no.
Part of personality I liked: He is much more quiet and soft-spoken than I imagined. It seems to make him more a thoughtful man than a wild and crazy rockstar or aggressive record exec. I’m sure his wheels were turning and churning when he got a load of me!
Part of personality I disliked: So far, I haven’t come across it.
Part of appearance I liked: Boyishly cute. Strikingly handsome. Very, very, very, very tall.
Part of appearance I disliked: Not that I disliked it, but he’d just started growing a goatee, and it wasn’t fully in, and I could tell that he wasn’t comfortable with it. Not sure he’ll keep it.
Highest Point: He found it. He found the thing that makes me go all weak in the knees .the thing that makes me purr like a kitten . It’s the hair. Play with my hair touch it, stroke it, run your fingers through it, lavish it with attention and I’m yours for as long as you keep it up. Damn. He’s good.
Lowest Point: Realizing that it was nearing 3AM and I was going to have to be at work in a little over four hours!!!
How it ended: After the Brazilian place gave us the boot, we walked to the parking lot where we both had parked. We kissed and kissed and he stroked my hair, and we kissed some more and it was nice, but I was drunk and I drove home hoping that I didn’t embarrass myself or act like an idiot or say stupid things .even though I know I did.
Chances I’ll see him again: Pretty darn good, considering I already saw him again!! We met for a late lunch on Saturday. It was mostly good, except for the fact that the places I pick seem to have terrible service lately! I talked a little less spastically this time, even though I did ramble a bit. But I did remember to ask him to tell me about the show he produced on Friday night (thank goodness!).
It’s fun finding out about him. On the one hand, he’s fascinating and larger-than-life to me. On the other, he’s soft and humble and self-conscious and real.
I’m curious. And I’m anxious to find out more. So if I would just clam up for a while and listen, I’m sure I will!
