More hormones…

  • Meeting Dean. Finally ended up at a place in the Meatpacking District on Saturday night (that is, after half of our group left either sick from bad sushi [?] or pissed off). After getting the girls a round of drinks and getting them settled into the place (I felt like taking charge at this point!), I immediately hit it off with a really cool guy! Handsome and nice and friendly as anything! He’s Canadian, and has been in the city for a couple of years. Told me he was impressed by my take-charge attitude with the girls! Wanted to know when I was coming back to NY. We talked, laughed and eventually kissed for the better part of three hours! And of course, got the boot from the bar at 4:30am! He invited me back to his place, to which I batted my eyelashes and replied, “I’d love to, but I’m not that kind of girl.” I knew that’s what he wanted me to say anyway, and it was all good. He got my number and we smooched some more. He’s also the reason why I didn’t post this entry yesterday. We talked for two hours on the phone last night! Gah. Haven’t done that in a long, long time! I have no preconceived notions as to what this could possibly be. I have no desire for a long-distance relationship as I’ve said before in regards to Hy. But he said he’d like to see me the next time I’m in town. Unfortunately, it looks like I won’t be back until September. I dunno. It was fun meeting him. I’m gonna leave it at that.
  • Sunday night exclusivity! After another series of miscommunications and some hurt feelings and sore feet (!), we all ended up back at the hotel bar on Sunday night. This was our last night on the town, and I really, really wanted to blow it out. So did a couple of the others, while the rest of the girls ended up in bed (wussies!). Our waitress was trying to end her shift, but was cool enough to get us a last drink (and wouldn’t serve anyone else—HAH!). Then she asked us what we were going to do later. We gave her a few options and she told us about a place in the East Village that’s hot on Sunday nights. She even gave us some names and told us to speak with the doorguy. We went. We worked it! Once I mentioned certain names, we got in with a “I’m sorry you ladies had to wait so long” from the doorguy! You would have thought we were pulling the scam of the century or something! I’m sure we were quite a sight. I started talking to some restauranteur who asked me how the hell we got in the place….that nobody really knows about the place except people in the “know”! I just smiled a sly smile and went on my merry way! Next, some other guy rambled up. We started talking about business, and it turns out he and I know many mutual people! He’s a friend of the Sr. VP in my division, and has also traveled extensively with an old boss of mine. It was tooo bizarre. He was completely whacked out of his head on something. I think cocaine. Not sure. Bought me a bunch of drinks, though. When I made it back to the other girls, they were all being chatted up by pro football players! I danced with some beautiful man…no idea who he was, but the other girls were gushing about football this and football that. I was clueless. Oh well. Would’ve stayed longer, but one of the girls reminded us that we had to get up at some point in the morning to catch our planes home. It was around 3:30 at that point.
  • Getting our love back! Aaah, the memories we make every year! One of the chicas burned us all two CDs just jam packed with all the music that we listened to back in college and movie quotes and all kinds of great stuff. Such a cool gift! Been listening to it for two days now. We all laughed and laughed about what’s gonna happen to us when we’re 65 years old and we’re still doing the girls trip and bitching and complaining and fighting yet still laughing and smiling and telling awful jokes and still writing down all of our goofy inside quotes! And as much as we bitch, these girls mean the world to me. I love them sooooo much. Obviously, the sisters I never had.

I can’t wait until next year!

Now. I must recuperate and get my hormones back to a normal level.
