Im leaving for Europe tomorrow morning. I dont even want to go into how screwed up this trip got (hint: politics), but I will say that Im not going to Dublin anymore. Nope. Just going to London and Barcelona and then stopping in New York on my way back home. Kinda bummed about missing Dublin especially after the great suggestions I got from Nash and DMT. Thanks guys. I do hope to put those suggestions to use at some point in the near future.
Ill be going with my counterpart, Chelle for the London portion. Then we split. She will be going to Copenhagen while I go to Barcelona. Id love to see Denmark with her, but I know that Barcelona will be good for what I need to accomplish. Plus, Im fairly familiar with the area as Im staying at the same hotel we stayed in last March.
Wonder if the Great European Heatwave of 2003 will still be frying people next week? According to weather.com, London should be nice and cloudy and in the mid to upper 70s. Nice. Barcelona, on the other hand, is going to be almost 90 and probably humid, as they are calling for scattered thunderstorms. And I just hope that the electricity keeps cranking during the final leg of my trip.
Ill be in NY for two days (I get in late Sunday night, Ill have all of Monday and most of Tuesday and then fly back here). Sports Guy is going to be in NY at the same time. He asked me if I was interested in going to the US Open on Monday evening. Im not holding my breath since hes Mr. Important Pants and is now notorious for canceling on me at the last minute (we had a date scheduled for Tuesday night at 8:30. He called to cancel at 8:15), but it would be cool if it worked out. We shall see.
Not sure if Ill update when Im gone, but I am bringing my laptop as I promised the product managers that Id send photos of pertinent information along the way. If I see anything that might be good diary fodder, Ill try to pass it along too if I get the chance.
Im procrastinating with the packing (as usual), and my first flight leaves at 7:00 AM. That means I need to leave the apartment by 5:15. Im not going to pack much since Ill be schlepping bags all over creation. But Im stumped about what to wear at the Open (his seats are in a box). That is IF I even go. Screw it. I guess Ill just buy something along the way.
Oh joy, I just found the Ambien. Now Ill be able to regulate the sleep patterns. Unfortunately, the bottle says that it expired a few months ago. Hope it still works. A glass of wine or two should add a bit of a kick start.
Lets see. Got my camera, the laptop, a few pairs of jeans (NO office meetings on this trip!!!!!!), my jammie pants, some tank tops, undies, and my umbrella. Looks like Im set!
