Saturday morning, and I’m going to look at furniture today. I figure, if I can’t buy the house right away, at least I can look for stuff to fill it! Actually, I have a second bedroom that’s posing as a large closet right now. I’ve always had a one bedroom and now that I have a second, I need to find a bed and some other furnishings. I’d like to make it a sewing room slash guest room.

Plus, I’m hostessing Thanksgiving this year, and I’ll need some extra sleeping space. Not only am I having the “feast”, but I’m also throwing a party that night. Not sure what I’m getting myself into here. Do you know that I haven’t thrown a real party since my college days? And let’s face it. Is a college party a “real” party? My college parties consisted of making a flyer and photocopying it, getting a keg from the liquor store across the street (verrrry convenient!), buying a few snacks, and making sure I had music all lined up. This is a whole new animal for me.

Anyone have any great/simple recipes they’d like to share? Ya’ll know I’m not a cook. I’ve done the Thanksgiving thing before, but it’s pretty overwhelming knowing that I need to have party grub for afterwards too.

Went to an art gallery crawl last night. What fun! The weather was brilliant, the crowd entertaining, and the galleries were a fantastic discovery. I went with my friend Jill and two of her guy friends. Jen showed up a little later.

I loved going to the pottery galleries. My grandparents were potters by profession, and I feel comfortable and at home around beautiful works of pottery. Sometimes the more simple, the better. I’d really like to go back and explore the area when I have more time and when the crowds aren’t so thick.

One of the more popular galleries featured Arne Svenson’s sock monkey portraits:

Why do I love these little guys so much??

And in the window, the gallery featured someone else’s sock monkey creations. I didn’t catch who did these, but they were kind of interesting. And naked.

Adam and Eve Monkey?

Afterwards, the group went to a great little restaurant to eat small dishes of yummy, yummy food (I had spicy salmon..mmmmm.) and then went to a bar. Verrry interesting dynamics happening within this new little group of friends. I don’t really have a lot of time to get into it. Plus, I’m just starting to see what’s happening here. I’ll wait until I have further knowledge to report.

Well, I better get moving. I was going to go to the bank this morning to see about prequalifying for a mortgage to see just what kind of trouble I’m getting myself into. But I think I’ll just move on to the furniture shopping.

Oh. I called LDL last night. I’m in trouble.

I love the weekend!
