Regarding my last entry: Yes. All of the stories are real. And true. Really true.

Quite disturbing, eh? But you have to figure in some facts. I’m 36 years old. I started dating at the tender young age of 15. And although I’ve had three [what I consider to be] serious relationships, I’ve never been married. So that’s 21 years of pure dating. There’s bound to be some doozies in there, dontchathink? I could break out some of my old diaries and probably list a hundred more horrible experiences (in fact, I just thought of another great one involving the wetting of a bed…yeeks). But honestly, I guess I’ve had just as many great dating experiences as I’ve had sucky. They’re just not as funny…or tragic. And I don’t seem to remember them as vividly as the debacles.

And of course, you know I’m no angel either. I’m sure somebody somewhere has put something I’ve done on some kind of list of their worst dating experiences of all time. Take the time I was happily talking to a guy and then suddenly, out of the blue and without warning, threw up all over his shoes. Or the time I went to a party with one date, had another guy meet me at the party and left with him, lost my keys and had to call Date #1 to bail me out. Yes, I’ve done my share of damage.

And speaking of damage, if you think that last entry might have made me think about giving up, guess again my friends! Here are the details from my lunch date with Speed Dater #2:

Name: Rob

Age: 43

Status: Never been married

Occupation: Owns ad agency

Length of date: 1 [lunch] hour

We met: An okay restaurant close to my work that specializes in Southwestern fare

We did: Lunch. Talked. Eyeballed each other.

Convo: A bit strained. He was clearly nervous and asked a lot of the same questions he did in previous conversations on the phone. But he’s clever. I sense a creative brain. I cut him no breaks…gave him a bit of a hard time when he got a little “too creative”. He’s well traveled, well studied, and very much into studying me.

Part of personality I liked: His quick wit, though he was just a tad off. Again, I cut him no breaks and really almost tried to mess up his stride. Just to show him who’s on top in this little game he’s obviously playing.

Part of personality I disliked: He tried a little too hard. Suppose it’s better than not trying at all.

Part of appearance I liked: Fairly tall. Dark hair that’s graying. I’ve been digging gray hair lately…think it’s very sexy.

Part of appearance I disliked: He was definitely not as attractive as I remembered from the speed dating night. Not hideous, but not as nice as his phone voice. Very sexy phone voice, by the way.

Highest Point: Saying goodbye. He gave me a really sweet hug and a kiss on the cheek that bordered juuuust barely on sensual.

Lowest Point: I felt my blood pressure rise when he rapid-fired some questions at me as I was trying to answer the first one.

How it ended: That sweet n’ sensual hug n’ kiss

Chances I’ll see him again: Pretty good. He’s complex, and there are things I’m curious about. I’d like to know more.

Quickie! I guess that’s what you get for going on speed dates. Overall I’d say it was okay…not stellar like MM, but we all know how that turned out, now don’t we?

And here’s the great part: I get to play again tonght!! I’m meeting Speed Dater #3 for drinks at 7:30! And if this one doesn’t work out, I have yet ANOTHER back up that I’m sort of interested in. I haven’t e-mailed him back yet, but whatever. This shit has the potential to become very exhausting.
