Time for yet another Rate-a-Date!

Name: Michael

Age: 44

Relationship Status: Never married, but sort of fairly recently out of a long-term (approx. 5-year) relationship

Occupation: Owns a construction company

Length of date: About two hours

We met: At my place. It was raining pretty badly, and he could tell that I was a bit frazzled, so he offered to do something really low-key in my hood. I felt comfortable with letting him pick me up. Hell, he already knows where I live. I ruled out the stalker possibilities pretty quickly.

I wore: Cute, pleated black denim mini, black turtleneck sweater, black tights, and tall black boots, all under a great blue denim trench.

He wore: Really nice, colorful striped woven sportshirt, jeans, and brown loafer-type boots.

We did: Dinner and convo while listening to a solo guitar act (too loud, but whatevah).

Convo: Well. Here’s the funny part. This truly is a small-town city. Turns out he’s a good friend of the marketing director of my company. This is the same marketing director who’s trying to set me up with another friend this weekend! I left that part out of our conversation. I hope this other guy is not a friend of Michael’s! Oops. But it was so funny to hear stories of her old party days (before she got married and settled down). I think he might have been quite a wild one back in the day. I wonder if he still is. He told me that he finally had to dump his ex because her cocaine use had gotten completely out of hand. Interesting.

Part of personality I liked: Sweet. Sweet and gentle as an old hound dog. Oh…and another cool thing about him: he is a big snow skier, and spent several seasons teaching the blind to ski. I love that so much.

Part of personality I disliked: I’m sure he’s smarter than he comes across, right? I mean, we didn’t really talk quantum physics all that much. And not that I’m pure brilliance myself. But I’m sure you have to be smart to own your own construction company, right? I suppose I should be thankful for not having to work my brain very much during dinner, but you know me, I love a challenge.

Part of appearance I liked: Very well groomed. Looks much younger than 44. In great shape.

Part of appearance I disliked: I always hate this question! Short, okay? And not really even in a bad way…just shorter than I remembered from Saturday night.

Highest Point: The little, baby kiss at the end. I was surprised by how much I liked it.

Lowest Point: Realizing that I’m not really sparking with him.

How it ended: He took me back to my place directly after dinner. I probably could have stayed out a little longer. But maybe he didn’t want to.

Chances I’ll see him again: I’m on the fence about him. I would probably go if he asks, but I don’t think this one will go anywhere. Plus, with not feeling much sparkage, he might not ask. My best estimate is 65% he’ll ask.
