After I posted my last entry, The Jackhammer must’ve read my mind. Because less than 20 minutes later, he called me. I should’ve taken that as another sign, but out of sheer loneliness and desperation to get out from underneath all of those boxes, I agreed to go to his place last night. I needed to pick up the last of my crap anyway, so I figured I could do both without too much trauma.

I got to his loft and knocked on the door, and as the door opened I could see that it was all candlelight and romance. Uh oh. He had dinner prepped and poured me a glass of wine. I kept telling myself not to get worried and nervous and to always bring the conversation back to business.

But I will say one thing, the guy can cook. He started off with a goat cheese and tomato salad (three types of tomatoes), then a grilled mix of salmon, aubergines, and some kind of pepper I’d never seen before, and finished with more and more wine, a gorgeous chunk of parmesan cheese and perfect red grapes. Oh yum. Plying me with food and wine will work almost every time.

But not this time. This guy is desperate to settle down—immediately. And once again I tried to talk him down from the ledge. So after he scooted his chair right next to me, I forced the conversation back to business. Good thing he LOVES to talk about his work. And the studio he and his partner are building. And his television show. And his Emmy displayed prominently in the corner because he still doesn’t have all of his furniture. He’s very, very proud and I don’t blame him. And that’s what I wanted to talk to him about.

So he brought his laptop over to show me some of his future projects. And I would SO love to work on a couple of them. His expertise is special effects and it’s truly fascinating stuff. He told me that I could work with him if I wanted to, and I told him that I’d be interested. In working. But the other stuff….I’m not so sure.

And then there’s that aggression that I had to back down time and time again. I don’t know about this. I want to work with The Jackhammer. How cool would it be to work on a feature film? Or style a TV show? Or a book? Or….it’s almost limitless. He’s got 100 irons in the fire and enough energy to juggle them all. I just need to harness the work part and keep his hormones at bay. Can I do this?
