(1) Visiting the man I once desperately, heart-wrenchingly loved with every fiber of my being (only to have him stomp on my heart and shred my hopes into a million tiny pieces. Yet after 5 years, he continues to apologize and tries to convince me hes changed, and I continue to desperately, heart-wrenchingly love him. The only difference is, Im a lot colder and fear commitment even more now.)
(2) Doing the touristy stuff I never get to do when I travel on business. For example:
(3) Hanging out with girlfriends old and new: a college buddy in San Francisco and four of her SF buds (who I already adore), and another great girlfriend in Los Angeles and one of her buds (who spent the night in my hotel room on Friday night). Gotta love the girlfriends, regardless of the vintage.
(4) Quaffing wine in Napa. Oooh the sparking kind was the best! Bought a bottle of bubbly for the LA part of the trip.
(5) Interviewing, interviewing, interviewing. Career fair was more than exhausting. Stood in line, schmoozed, flipped through my portfolio, and shifted my weight from one high heel to the other for hours on end. And to top that off, I had to drive to Anaheim (from Santa Monica) on Friday for another interview with a company that sounded interesting in the beginning, but doesnt look too promising.
(6) Celebrating the Big Three-Eight. Ouch. It hurt.
(7) Buying the greatest pair of shoes—ever:
(8) Enjoying conversation with a handsome stranger on the flight from Los Angeles back to the Great Midwest. Quite the flirt was he. Welcome back, ego. And wheres he been the past three years??
(9) Not getting out of my jammies all day today.
(10) Dreading tomorrow.
