Good Saturday morning. Im scrubbed, showered, and café-au-laid. Next, Im off to do the digits (new nail polish from the Target), the hairs, and wander around the farmers market before the clouds roll in this afternoon. When they do, Ill be back here to put away the laundry, scrub the bathroom floor (havent had the cleaning service in the temporary place), and start packing for my Thanksgiving vacay!
I couldnt be more excited to be on vacation AGAIN! It seems like I just had one. I dont know if its a good thing to let all your days accumulate like this, but I feel like I havent really been working much at all. And to ice this delicious holiday treat, I found out yesterday that the big-ass project that I normally do this time of year has been put on hiatus! Yes, I have a lot of other things to put to bed before the sales meeting (2nd wk. of Dec.), but I can be worry-free during my vacation, and that simply ROCKS my ASS!
Okay enough with the good news, heres the bad: Stephan (my colleague based in New York) got canned yesterdayvia phone call. Apparently, it was a very brief conversation, and as much as Stephan has been bracing himself for a firing, I think this was a pretty big shock. Wed been talking about the whole thing every day, plotting and planning our scenarios. I seriously thought that hed gain more responsibility and wed be working even more closely, but no. I just think it was sucky that he was let go over the phone, when our [hot, sexy] boss was in New York just a few days ago. Why couldnt he have done that in person?
And then I got a scary phone call too. My mom called while Stephan and I were on the phone, so she left a message that scared the you-know-what out of me. It was eerily breezy and went something like this
Hey [Ginger], its your mom. I dont want to bother you at work, but I just thought Id call to tell you a little bit about what happened to your dad today. Hes okay, but just call me when you can.
UGH! I hate those phone calls. I immediately called her, and she and my dad were both by the phone actually JOKING about the fact that my dad stopped breathing and went into convulsions during a colonoscopy. AND that they found a GIANT polyp that was too big to suction out, so they had to dig the thing out.
I love that my parents both have that semi-dry sense of humor and that they are calm in the face of issues like this. It could be a million times more melodramatic. And hell, people get sick all the time. But this is my Daddy! And I hope hes okay. I really do.
The test results should come in while Im there.
So yes, Im off to visit the folks on Monday. So far, Ive seen them a grand total of four (4!) hours this year. I guess its about time for a little quality interaction, eh?
It would be nice if I knew about the job at my old place (they told me to be patient because the team has been out of the country for the past couple of weeks, but I still havent heard anything!), because I could be looking around at possible places to live while Im there. I still may do that just out of curiosity anyway. Its always fun to look at houses (or in my case, lofts and converted old buildings).
I better get going for now. Im sure Ill be back soon. In the meantime, Ill give you something to comment about. Look at these BOOTS!!!!
