No long song and dance about how it all went down lets just say, I showed up extra early for work on Monday morning, and my boss was confused when I walked into his office. But as soon as he saw the piece of paper in my hand (letter of resignation), the jig was up.
He was cool and wanted to counteroffer, and that came as a big surprise. I guess Prez nixed that idea pretty quickly. Oh well, what would I have done anyway?
What also came as a big surprise were the tears from my co-workers. I must be some kind of cold-hearted monster because I certainly didnt feel like crying. And I had no idea that these people even cared if I ever showed up on any given day. Amazing. All the kind things people have said to me in the last two days has blown my mind.
Im sure theyre spitting venom behind my back, though. I heard it all when the VP of marketing quit two weeks ago. These sweet Midwesterners can really cut to the quickjust not to your face. I dont care. Ive got a foot out the door.
Pretty good time to quit, though. When its nice and quiet and people are in fairly good, festive, sentimental moods.
