Spoze an update’s in order. I just haven’t been in the writing mood lately. Nor have I really been on fire about much of anything. I guess it’s the shock of the extremely quick move, the brand new job, and the new living space that’s got me so overwhelmed right now.

Glad I won’t be traveling for another couple of weeks. Hopefully I’ll be much more settled by the time Feb. 13th rolls around (that’s the Tokyo/Paris/Los Angeles circuit—a two-week trip that’s gonna send my body into a tailspin, I’m sure).

Work’s gonna be wild. I can sense it. I’m still not quite ready to write it all down yet. There are just too many bizarre personalities involved. I can’t even sort them out. So far, my boss is pretty cool…but I can tell he’s so over it. I’ve heard him talk about retirement every day since I started. I’m already angling for his position. Is that wrong?

Another thing I’m angling for: a spectacular loft! I’m loving the building where I live. It’s unlike anything I’ve ever experienced before. Hard to explain, but….let’s just say, it’s amazing! Every month, different floors host “open loft” parties, and anyone on that floor can open their loft and let everyone in the building cruise through and see all the different and unique spaces.

Thursday was my first open loft party. Naturally, I didn’t open mine (there are still boxes everywhere and I’m just not ready), but I went to the party and walked through the lofts. Each one was more stunning than the next. I was blown away by some of the spaces. We’re talking major $$$ some people have spent making their lofts into showcases. And this is all rental space!! Still, I found out that there are some really, really special units in this building. Take for instance, one of the corner units on my floor: 3500 square feet of pure indulgence, including a bedroom-sized SHOWER STALL, a sunken living room (how’d they do that in an old warehouse?), four living areas, and top-of-the-line appliances. Hmmm..how much could these guys possibly be paying in rent?

I also rode in the elevator with an NBA star yesterday. Huh?? Found out through secret sources (the concierge—shhhhh!) that he lives in this building!!

I so have my work cut out for me. It’s going to be months before my place is ready for public consumption.

But I did meet a lot of people from the building, and afterwards I joined some new neighbors in the coffeeshop downstairs and sipped wine while listening to live music. Bliss.

I was a good girl all weekend. No boozing, no slutting, no crashing in other’s homes. Just me and the kitty, unpacking boxes, organizing things, doing a little online shopping, resting, and catching up on my phone calls.

Talked to Las Vegas Guy for a long time on Saturday. He continues to blow me away with his “Man of Mystery” MO, but this time he really took the cake. He’s working on a deal that, if it comes through, will make him even filthier rich than he already is. He was so excited about it, and he was dying to tell me. But he made me promise not to tell a SOUL about it because it is top, top, TOP SECRET!! I LOVE secrets! He spilled the beans—and I was speechless! Too bad I can’t write it here, but then again, I doubt I’d tell it right anyway, it’s all so complicated. It’s also very tricky and risky. Then he told me that if the deal does go through, the first thing he’s gonna do is charter a jet, pick me up, and take me to Jamaica. I’m not holding my breath for that one. But if it does happen, I’ll be sucking in my GUT, that’s for sure! Um… if I go.

OH! And today’s weather was unbelievable! I went for a nice long bike ride. It was so refreshing to get outside and get some exercise. I’d almost forgotten how good it feels to ride like that. I like riding downtown early on Sunday mornings when there’s no traffic and the day is sparkly and new. I had the greatest morning.

I blew off a couple of people this weekend, though. Gary, an old friend of mine (well, really a friend of Best Bud’s) has been in touch with me and wanted to come down and see my place and maybe do something. But he’s so loud and abrasive, and I just wasn’t feeling like dealing with loud and abrasive this weekend. So I didn’t answer the phone when I saw him calling. He didn’t leave a message, and he didn’t try back. I felt slightly guilty, but not enough to call him back. Weekends are just too precious.

And then LDL called. He did leave a message. He wants to see me in March. In fact, he’s talking about coming here to see me. And he also gave me some other options, such as meeting somewhere like Mexico. I haven’t returned that call yet, either.

So, lots of stuff. Lots of exciting and weird stuff. Lots to do. Lots to think about. Just, lots.
