Have gotten really busy at work the past couple of days, so things feel a little whirlwindy. Boss Party Pants called in sick with a migraine yesterday, and wouldn’t you know all hell broke loose. See, last week during our version of a three-martini lunch, I volunteered to help out with one of her projects—a very high profile project. And there was a touch-base meeting first thing Monday morning. Well, things were not moving along smoothly, and people started freaking. Let’s just say it’s been a long week already.

Let’s also just say that I stand to look like a hero if (big IF) everything executes like clockwork over the remainder of the week. I’m planning to log in some major hours, most likely over the Easter weekend. It’s so, I don’t know, embarrassing (?) to be so dorky as to want to look like a brown-nosing hero, but…it is what it is, I guess. I have nothing else to look forward to. At this point, my job is basically my life. Nothing new, just even more pathetic.

AtH has apparently decided to blow me off. This means that I was stood up twice in one week by two different men…one, I don’t give two shits about…the other, I’m so insanely crushy about that it just about crushed ME.

Hello…my name is Loser.

I’ve been on a Champagne kick. I’m pretty sure it started with the Chambien experience a couple weeks back. And though I’ve kicked the Ambien part, the “cham” seems to have stuck. I love the bubbly. Adore the stuff. And I’ve been trying to experiment too. Yesterday, I was craving a pink champagne to drink with my spring rolls I picked up for dinner. So I grabbed a bottle of blanc de noir. I thought that it meant white champagne with some red mixed in (making pink), but obviously I was wrong. It means, white champagne made from dark-skinned grapes. Interesting. And not bad, either. Here’s the bottle I finished (leftovers) tonight: BUBBLY!

So. Except for the fact that the one thing I was really looking forward to regarding the weekend fell through (read: the AtH blowoff), the weekend turned out to be a series of pleasant experiences…

  • Though I didn’t go out with Lovely Leah on Friday night (she was stressing over getting her daughter to her events, etc.), we ended up meeting for brunch on Saturday. And I finally got to meet her darling daughter!! I think I’ve mentioned this before, but Lovely has always kept her party life (including me) separate from her daughter’s life. Now that Baby Lovely is 9 years old, I guess Momma Lovely has decided that it’s okay for Baby L. to meet the wild-ass friends (and I guess trusts said wild-ass friends not to do stupid things in front of precious Baby L.). Such a sweet time we had. I adore Baby L., and I think she digs me too!!
  • Another surprise involving friends’ daughters: Matt called me late Saturday afternoon to see if I wanted to see a world-renowned show that’s in town with him and his daughter that night. See, Gregory (my friend and Matt’s partner) got called out on a trip (he’s a flight attendant) so he couldn’t go, so Matt and Maddie wanted ME to go with them!! I was flattered, accepted, and we had the most fantastic, spontaneous Saturday night I’ve had in a long, long time.
  • Sunday was another story. And even though AtH never even bothered to return my phone call, I had the greatest day shopping and taking myself out to eat and drinking champagne. Pffftttt on YOU, Mr. Across the Hall!!!!

There’s more…a lot more, but I’m tired now and my photography session for Big Project starts before 7am tomorrow. I’m going to close my eyes and hope for sweet, bubbly dreams now.
