Hi. I’m going to attempt to get an entry in while I do the following here at the office:

  • Create my own end-of-year review (called an “Individual Development Plan” and done on some kind of online crazy form…ahh corporate bullshit!)
  • Pull together ideas for Grrrr’s birthday gift (his BD is December 10th)—I have decided since he does a lot of traveling to create a “travel kit”, if you will, consisting of travel candle tins, body wash (yes, he’s kinda girly…even more so than I), magazines/subscriptions, and one of the new video iPods (haven’t bought this yet)…all wrapped up in a cool Kenneth Cole travel case. Need a couple additional ideas OR I need to figure out how to load some music/vids on the iPod while my laptop is STILL broken!
  • Pull together a forecast report that needs to be finished by the end of the day
  • Make/return very important phone calls!

So. Thanksgiving has come and gone. What a whirlwind. Not just last week, but the past year has simply had me reeling. In a good way…but wow!

Turkey Day itself was a blast!! Grrrrr and I had dinner at our place, and my parents came as well as an artist who’s visiting from Europe and wasn’t going to participate in the festivities until we invited her. We all really enjoyed having her there, and she even opened up the gallery after our dinner for a private viewing for my parents—that was really special. I also think it was fun for Grrrr to be able to speak to her in her native language. And I hope the whole thing was fun for her too!

The parents were cool, and I think they are really digging Grrrr. My only issue is that Grrrr hid all of the photos of his kids that he had placed around the loft. He told me that he just wasn’t ready to get into all of “it” with my parents yet. And honestly, I see his point. Our last get-together with my folks was weird and awkward, no thanks to some insecurities of mine—but whatever. After the visit this time, things were a million times better (I was calm thanks to a little bit of wine and an already-prepared meal—thank you, Whole Foods!).

Aneeyyway. Mom called me at 7:30am on Black Friday to thank me for the wonderful Thanksgiving that we had for them (see, she couldn’t sleep and I’d told her that I was gonna get up early to do some of that crazy-people shopping..so it all worked out perfectly!). I also know that she knows that Grrrr has pretty much moved in, and she gave me her famous, I’m-So-Happy-When-You’re-Happy speech (which, to be honest, makes me very happy!!). I too am happy that we’re all happy right now.

Bleauch! Is this disgusting or what?!

No, all is not perfect. But who would even want perfect anyway? We’re still ironing out some of the getting-to-know-you stuff and facing our own insecurities. But it’s amazing how different this is from any of my past relationships. And trust me, that’s a good.

So well. I’m at the end of the day…got most of the stuff done from list above, and now I’m in desperate need of a manicure, so I think I’ll check that one off the list, too!

Grrrr is out of town for a couple days. Good time to take care of the girly stuff and finish the shopping and perhaps even a happy hour?! God, I’m boring.
