This is for you, Kate…

What I Love About Grrrrr

  • complements me daily—several times a day
  • is incredibly attractive to me…the chemistry is definitely there
  • always doing little stuff for me
  • loves me back—and tells me so
  • is proud to be with me—and tells me so
  • doesn’t let me get away with bitchy shit
  • is able and willing to talk things through (most of the time), and initiates a lot of conversation
  • snappy dresser (he would die if he knew I said “snappy”!)
  • extremely affectionate—even in public (LOVE that for some reason)
  • great taste in home décor
  • cooks for me
  • cleans the loft
  • makes the bed
  • fixes stuff around the house
  • feeds/loves the cat when I’m gone (even though he doesn’t necessarily like the cat)
  • always opens the door for me (or carries stuff, etc.)
  • loves to entertain
  • loves children (and cannot wait for his to visit)
  • calls his grandmother every week
  • sometimes into chick flicks
  • in great physical shape (actually, AMAZING!)
  • comes to visit me at the office (like he just did now!)
  • gives me butterflies

The list goes on. I know these are little things, and I know it’s so cliché, but I guess I don’t care.

I’m not claiming perfection by any means. My entries have already proven that. But I think about how living with Grrrrr is somehow like living with my best girlfriend, the most intense lover, and the biggest source of confusion—all wrapped into one package. I dunno. We talk of breaking up sometimes, and there are days when I would gladly say yes. But then we talk about the future, too, and things that seemed insurmountable just a couple of months ago actually seem…well, do-able.

We had a long talk that ended in something of a knock-down-drag-out last night, but left me more in love today than ever. How can that be?

I guess some things defy explanation.
