Hello.

I wrote an entry on the plane coming home from New York last nite. Saved it, and then emailed it to myself this morning so that I could edit and add to it this morning and post it today. But I emailed myself the wrong document! Dumb.

Yeah, I was in NYC from Sunday night until yesterday. So much to do, so little time. Isn’t that the way it always is? Good news is I got to see Best Bud AND Chelle (my counterpart at my last job), so I really lucked out on this trip. Bummer is that I didn’t have enough time to get my JOB done (purpose of trip!), AND we missed out on a big snowstorm that was predicted. I really wanted to see some fluffy, pretty snow! Oh well. We made it to all of our appointments and didn’t have to trudge through slush. So, there’s a bright side to everything, right?

Boss Party Pants was on this trip. Weird as ever and getting weirder. I worry about her because I know her intentions are good. I’m just afraid that it might be prescription drugs mixed with alcohol creating a kookoo combo in her brain and body. There have been entire conversations that she forgets lately and I find myself repeating the same things over and over with her…and still wonder whether I’ve gotten my point across. I smelled alcohol on her breath after our FIRST meeting on Monday morning, and by Tuesday she couldn’t get out of bed (blaming it on a bad shrimp she ate at dinner Monday night). Worried. Very worried.

But it sure was nice to see TFMS’s smiling face at baggage claim last night. I tell you, this is what having a partner is alllllll about: someone to miss me when I’m gone, someone to look forward to seeing, someone who is…there. He hugged me and told me that he was glad I was home, and then he took me to our favorite pizza joint for salad, bruschetta, and a glass of wine. We sat at the bar and even made some new friends! And then home (sigh) for some “home-sweet-home” if ya know what I mean.

And this morning, he was off on a trip to San Diego and Mexico. We are like two lovesick ships passing in the night sometimes, but with homecomings like that, I’m certainly not complaining.

Planning a long business trip to Europe and Japan for February. I wanted to visit TFMS’s grandmother in Germany for a day during this trip, but I am going to have to fly to and from London in one day, and the cost of the ticket has risen significantly because I waited and waited to hear confirmation from Oma. She’s celebrating her 80th birthday, and it would have been nice to meet and visit her (since TFMS’s family is so teeny), but not sure if I’m going to be able to do this now. Plus, the trip is a bit of a logistical nightmare—tube to train station, train to airport, flight from London to Frankfurt, train to little German town, taxi to Oma’s place…and then turn right back around to get back to London in one day. I’ll do it if I can, but today it’s not looking so enticing. We shall see.

But before then, lots and lots and LOTS to do. Let’s see:

–photo entry of Germany trip

–trip to Los Angeles (end of month)

–figure out how we’re getting the kids over here for the summer

–list of what needs to be done for the wedding (head is starting to steam a little)

–um, WORK! Gotta run!
