Finally! The last of the 3-part Germany photo entry! I know what you’re looking for….

But first, here’s the town square in the little ‘burb where we stayed:

This is a lucky stone sculpture that you can turn for good luck (I think!). TFMS told me what the name of it is, but I can’t remember right now! It’s from some kind of cartoon character that he showed me through Google images… OK…found it! It’s Obelix! Hmmmm.

At the Saturday market:

More shopping at the supermarket (needed chocolate milk, wine and other goodies!):

The building on the far left was the place where we stayed…on the very top floor is an apartment. Simple but roomy and perfect for us (after they’d fixed the heat and hot water, etc.!)

This was the tiniest of convenience kiosks, and you could see it from the bedroom in the apartment (where I took this picture). You can kind of make out the guys who are hanging around…these guys would stand there all day and drink beer! TFMS told me about the unfortunate “welfare” situation in Germany. These guys use their government money to drink instead of work.

On our last full day of our vacation, X and NH took us all to an artist colony town to walk around and then have a special dinner. Here is a beautiful windmill that we saw along the way:

Some of the pretty places we saw on our walk:

(TFMS being…well, himself):

Why do naked statues still fascinate me?

And before our special dinner, we stopped at another place to have a warm drink of Gluhwein, which [Fred] had asked about in a previous entry. Yes, we drank this delicious, warm concoction made of wine and spices (and we asked for ours with Amaretto in it as well)…yummmm!

Here are the guys (NH and TFMS) before we sat down:

The Gluhwein!

And by VERY popular demand, here is a picture that TFMS took of us sitting at the table. You can’t really see me, but if you look closely, you can make me out…and you can also see that I’m telling X a story! Yes, we are sitting next to each other. And the kids are in the background drinking hot chocolate!

And after our drinks, Cardinal Snap felt the urge to confess his sins, I guess.

Or maybe it was a prayer in preparation for [……drumroll……] Grunkohl und Pinkel, which is a seasonal dish that consists of sausage, kale, and this barley-like sausage thingie that you open up and eat kind of like rice. Oh my GOSH!! Unbelievably delicious!! But it sits VERY HEAVY in the stomach!!

Here, Daughter enjoys! [And you can see my plate is FULL and overflowing, and I ate the WHOLE THING!! Oink!]

So.

Just as quickly as it started, it was time to go. Boohoooooo!! I don’t have any pictures of the goodbye. Frankly, it was a tense situation, and it was just as good to just get to the airport without photo-documenting all of that.

Back on the prop…

Back over the skies of Holland…

Busses and more planes:

Over Greenland:

Inside the plane…okay, so we got a little loopy:

But who wouldn’t when Elvis is on their plane headed to Memphis??

Just one more Starbucks stop, and one more flight…

And we were home!!!

Whew!

The End.

Any questions?
