So today Boss (not Boss Party Pants) called in sick, and shes never ever done that since Ive been working for her (Ive never called in sick eitherweird?). Anyway, the only meeting I had on my agenda today was with her, so you can imagine I did a few other things that were not on my to-do list.
Like, I went downstairs to the cafeteria during the inauguration because they were showing it on a big screen. What a cool day, no? It was so exciting to turn on the news this morning and just feel that BUZZ. I really loved it.
Anyway, downstairs in the cafeteria. Big screen. The cafeteria is below another balcony-type area where theres a coffee shop and some seating. Everyone was silent, watching the TV. And then some ASSHOLE starts talking on his phone at a normal, but booming speaking voice. Its like it carried through an echo chamber because hes up in the balcony area, oblivious to the poor suckers who are downstairs trying to HEAR the speech!
And then you could hear him say, Yeah, Im watching the inauguration
Then he continued to boom-speak for at least 10 more minutes on multiple work-related topics, when I got frustrated and got up to leave. I know, its hard to shush him when we are all at the office and were supposed to be oh, I dont know working? But it was like taking a coffee break (which I RARELY do), and I could feel my blood pressure rising. And that also made me feel badly to get so riled up like that.
Whatever. I walked away. I marched right back up to my desk and theyd already put the entire transcript of the speech on yahoo or somesuch website, so I read it. And by that time it was lunchtime.
And I rarely get out of the office at lunchtime, but again I had some delicious extra time, so I went and test drove a car! I know! What a luxury.
The lease is up on my vehicle in two weeks, so time to get a new one. It sucks so much that the economy blows, and I dont even know if Ill have a job in two weeks, but Im still going to need a car, right?
Im going to miss my sweet baby Audi with her tendency to go topless and her moody music alternating happy to sad to happy again and her sometimes serious, sometimes sexy exterior and her warm, warm, bun-warmers. Mmmmmm. I might just have to get another.
I am spoiled.
Rotten.
Tonight, Ive been invited to an inauguration party. It is in the studio of the woman who was supposed to be my florist in the wedding. She is a really cool woman, 48 (maybe 49 by now), never married, and just the hippest thing. I am inspired by her. Every time I see her she give me a big hug and tells me insightful things about what life is all about and how good things are on the way.
I love it: her invitation reads, black attire, not black tie.
I suppose I should get moving outta here if I want to make it at a decent time.
I wish I had something really special to report. Perhaps tomorrow?
