Hey.
Looks like I’m getting this entry in under the wire. I know I was trying to write in the mornings, but this Thanksgiving week has thrown me for a little bit of a loop. I think that’s fine. I’m happy to be home tonight writing an entry at the end of the day (even if it IS Saturday night and all).
Thanksgiving was fun, if uneventful. I was happy to see M&D and my brother. I thought my bro might bring his girlfriend (girl who’s a friend, I guess). I’ve been wanting to meet her for a while now. He talks so much about her. Alas, it was just him. But he did invite me to visit, so….
Yesterday I came back to [my city] so that I could hang with Best Bud and her hub over at W. and T.’s (her brother and SIL).
[Side note: This is the same bro and SIL who drove me back to [my city] after EXMS left me at Best Bud’s house–a move that sealed our breakup. Do you know that W. still shoulders some of the blame for that breakup? Do you know that he was the one who jokingly told EXMS that he could still get out if he wanted…that we weren’t married yet and there was still time to back out! Yes, W. thinks he played a role. I adore W. I think he rocks really hard.]
It was so fantastic to see Best Bud again. Why don’t we see each other more often during the year? I had so much fun with her and her family that I ended up spending the night at W. and T.’s last night. I hadn’t expected to do that, and that’s the reason why I was unable to get an entry in yesterday…I was having soooooooo much fun with my peeps. But I was so sure that I was going to come home because I was still feeling that yucky cough and didn’t want to get anyone sick–especially the kids.
Still, we visited for a while and then drove over to Walt and Eve’s (good friends of BB’s hub and now good friend of BB and W. and T.) at around 4:30 and ended up staying until somewhere around 11:30.
Walt and Eve ended up having an impromptu party, and it was lovely. Their daughters were visiting from college (stunningly beautiful and absolutely charming–it was really fun talking with them), two other couples showed up with their kids, and before we knew it, there were chafing dishes and a huge buffet was served!
Not even going to mention the splendid bar service that Walt always provides. He has a walk-in wine cellar that puts most restaurants to shame.
After the party, it was back to W. and T.’s where we somehow kept talking and talking and talking until it was just BB, W. and me starting to fade at 3am. W. had filled my wine glass over and over and over again, and even if I hadn’t been filled to the brim, I was waaaaaayyy too tired to drive the almost 45 minutes home.
Slept on the couch and finally woke to little boys padding around, then BB crawling onto the couch with me, then BB’s hub piling on top of us, then the two 4-year-olds jumping on. Finally, W. and T. were up and fixing coffee and breakfast…more chatting…then soaking up the sun (gorgeous day!)…then lunch…tons of playing with kids, and before I knew it, we were having dinner!
Way to spend a whole day and 1/2! In fact, W. and T. asked me to stay, even though BB and her hub had dinner plans with some other friends. By that time though, I was really ready to come home.
I have a million things I want to write about and yet nothing is coming. I want to write about how good it feels to catch up with Best Bud and her family, and how after I said something about being ready for this whole decade to be over, BB’s husband said some really wonderful things to me that got me thinking–a lot.
I’m tired right now. So exhausted. I can’t get this stuff out. Must be the wine from last night. Or my cough. Or just the fact that I’m trying to spit this entry out. I don’t know.
Bottom line is, I’m blessed and I’m thankful.
Until tomorrow.
This is what my mouth and teeth looked like before going to bed last night. Yum.
