PIC OF THE DAY!

Welcome, 2010. Feel free to steam things up a bit!

TODAY…

1. So, so, so thankful for the amazing time with Cindy last night.

2. Also so very thankful for dinner tonight with some former neighbors. What a great time!

3. Thankful for 2 1/2 hours of sweating out the bubbly today!

4. Looking forward to the opera tomorrow with more girlfriends. So blessed with these women!

5. THANK YOU for being here, 2010!!!

Aaaaaand here we are!

What a brilliant night I had last night. Cindy came over and we went to the late night yoga thing. Yoga Man was on his absolute BEST behavior. In fact, Cindy, who teaches yoga at a different studio told me that she thought he was a really good instructor.

I figured it out, though. I figured it alllllll out. See Yoga Man is a partner in this studio, and his business partner was in attendance. So there was no pawing, prodding, or tickling done last night. He was very much strictly business, and it was a lovely, moving class…all done by candle light.

Afterward, there was a small party. They turned on a TV, and we literally caught the last 5 seconds of the ball drop in NYC and then a local celebration. Cindy and I brought a bottle of champagne, but there was already some there. We stayed for a little while, but it was a bit too mellow for our tastes.

So Cindy and I came back up to my loft and had a middle-aged slumber party! Drank tons more bubbly, got on the computer and I showed her pix of CC, sent text messages to friends and family, and then tried to figure out how to send anonymous texts (by trying the *67 method), but we couldn’t get that to work. I made us cheese quesadillas.

I was kind of bummed not hearing from CC. I know, ridiculous. But I thought I might hear from him since he is so big on texting me several times a day and now at least a phone call or two almost daily. But at 3:05am, I got 5 repeated texts that showed he tried to send them at 12:26am. I actually got 8 texts all at once and Cindy’s texts were all wacky too. I wonder if the system just got clogged with all the texting going on all over the world. So I felt a tiny bit better after that. I mean, he tried 5 times. Not bad.

And THEN! We had a dance party. By this time it was well after 3:30am and we were just in the mood to dance, dance, dance! I turned on the music way loud. We had soooooo much energy and we were laughing so hard. It was about 30 more minutes of hard cardio moves. Seriously, I have to say that the last couple of months have been the most hilariously soothing and wonderful times with my girls.

I guess if I’ve learned anything in the past several weeks, it’s that you just can’t beat the beauty that is a girlfriend. It’s like I get with my girls and am just giddy with joy. And that joy seems to be contagious, so it just perpetuates itself.

Finally, at around 4:30, we decided to go to bed. Slept like the dead until the Tan Man woke us. Cindy left to go run errands and I made some phone calls and then guess what I did?

I went right back down to the yoga studio and did 108 sun salutations!

Okay, I know what you’re thinking. When did this chick get into yoga? Well, I haven’t really. But these opportunities have just been presenting themselves, and I am in love with the idea of starting this particular year off right. Yoga Man had been announcing this particular event for a couple of weeks now, and I just wanted to see if I could do it.

Oh mah gah. I almost lost it about twelve times. The bubbles and lack of sleep plus the almost blinding sunshine streaming into the studio and the fact that I was moving my body in ways I haven’t in years almost made me puke.

But I got through that shit. I did it. And with no interference from Yoga Man (yes, his partner was in attendance again). Took 2 1/2 hours to get through, but I did it. And I was soaked through with sweat, but felt like a trillion dollars when it was all over.

Then I had to rush to get ready for dinner at Allen and Lydia’s. Lovely dinner with some former neighbors of mine. I want to tell you more about dinner because it’s a nice story, but I’m exhausted and want to go to bed now. So I’ll probably write more about it tomorrow.

Wow. I’m so beat. What a perfect way to start 2010!

Joy.
