SP and I went to brunch with a new couple yesterday and I thought I’d do a Double RAD:

Names: Kitty and Smitty (made up to protect the innocent!)

Ages: I believe they are both in their mid-30s

Relationship Status: They knew each other at a university where Smitty’s dad was a professor and almost flunked Kitty. Then lost touch for years and re-found each other at some charity event. Dating for about a year.

Occupations: Kitty – Lifestyle PR, Smitty – Manages a helicopter project

Length of Date: about 2 1/2 hours

What We Did: We met for brunch at a fabulous restaruant that I never even knew existed. It is within walking distance from Kitty’s place, and pretty close to my downtown place. Bottomless mimosas are always a welcome treat, and the weather was almost perfect (except for that tiny bit of sunshine that escaped the umbrella and landed on my left arm and in my eyes for just a little while). We talked non-stop for the entire time. Food was delicious, and we were all juiced and happy!

They Wore: Kitty: Pretty cotton tangerine-colored dress with white accents; Smitty: short sleeve shirt that showed off his tattoo’d arms (full sleeves, which kinda surprised me because he is so sweet looking), jeans, didn’t see the shoes on either. For shame!

We Wore: SP: dress pants and long sleeve French cuff shirt (because he loves FCs and I like them on him too! Plus, we came straight from church); Me: Black strapless sundress (I’d worn a small sweater to church) and tall sandals.

Convo: So, I think what really got us together was the fact that we all met at a party and started talking about a million different things: from walking around the city lake to really cool documentaries we’d seen to travels to fashion and other fun things. We could have talked for hours, but we all had places we needed to get to that night. Kitty gave me her business card and said we should get in touch, and then she initiated the whole getting together things. I’m so happy we agreed to brunch!

High Point: Laughing and laughing. Loving that we all got along so well.

Low Point: When it was time to go.

How It Ended: Was buzzed and happy when we finally parted ways. Promised to do it again. Hugs all around.

Chances We’ll Meet Up Again: Good! Kitty’s already emailed me saying we should do it again, and I have already emailed back.

Lesson(s) Learned: It’s kinda lame to do a couple’s RAD. I think that this sounds pretty prissy and boring. I guess because there’s no high emotions or butterflies or weird confusion with this like dates are. Plus, we already knew each other. I dunno. Still, had a great time…glad we met. Loved the brunch.

Next Time: Hope to be juicier with the gossip!
