Nice, quick week, eh? Well, quick anyway if not nice. Only problem is, I’ve been able to enjoy Summer Hours at work this year (was too swamped to be able to take 1/2 days on Friday last year) and now summer is ovah. So I will be working alllll afternoon today. Poor, poor me.

Did not get much sleep last night. I woke at around 2am with a million worries swirling around my brain. It’s so strange that worries always seem so much more bleak and dire in the middle of the black night than in the light of day. Why is that?

Anyway. I’m “off” today.

But I do have some good news: I’m wearing JEANS today! That’s right! Wasn’t it Monday when I said I couldn’t fit into any of my jeans? I’m here to tell you that today is a new day! Granted, they are still tight, just not c-toe tight. And after four days, I’m pretty happy about that. So that’s something.

Yesterday’s conference call with “The Pub” was fine. Not great – just fine. There’s a consultant guy who always audits our calls and he’s never, ever spoken up except during the last two phone calls, when it’s obvious the project is just about to be completed and I think he feels like he needs to add his 2 cents. So he chimes in about the littlest, nitpickiest stuff and I just have to pretend to take it all in stride, like, of course!! I’ll make those adjustments!! I have to remind him that every change and then stall he asks for takes time, and as you know, time is $$$$$. He doesn’t seem to care. And I pretend to. Becuase in the grand scheme of things… uggghhhh. It’s not even worth the energy my fingers are emitting.

Let’s just say, one of my [p] noters is right. The industry is small and tight-knit. I am doing my best to keep on good terms in a volatile situation. God help me.

So after the con call I had a meeting with another consultant-type person at an outside location. Not really worth writing about except for the fact that we were done by 4:30 which meant that I could easily make it to the 6PM fashion show at the Fashion’s Night Out event I was excited to attend.

So it took me about an hour to drive over, find a parking spot and get in the door, only to find a line several hundred people long. I got in line, not really knowing if there was a VIP line for people who’d RSVP’d to invitations, etc. So I started talking with a few people in line, and said that I was dying to go up to the front of the line (which was snaking around the building for miles), and the girl next to me told me she’d hold my spot in line and another chimed in and said she would too if I’d find out if there was a different line.

Long story short, I ended up sort of losing everyone in line only to find them again after the 6PM show in this special VIP lounge area. Mind you, these are people I’d never met before (except in that long line), and suddenly we were BFFs. In fact, these two ladies took me in and I hung out at their table and sipped champagne with them, and when the next fashion show was about to go on, a photographer from a magazine took our picture and then another representative asked us if we wanted to sit in the reserved section and swooped our little group up and took us to the FRONT of the next show where MORE photographers took MORE photos and it was all such a HUGE BLURR of a kind of Real Housewives reality show kind of vibe.

Bizarre!

But fun!!

I was such a fun swirl of festivities and hot fashion and sparkles and champagne and shutters flashing. So much so that I didn’t even get to shop for anything! I just love spontaneous evenings like that. Even still, I was in bed before 10PM! Whaaaat? I’m so tame now. Not that I was ALL that crazy to begin with. I guess we just packed a lot in between 5:30 and 8:30! Whew.

So tonight should be a mellow evening. SP is hosting a football party on Sunday so I’m going to help him get ready for that. SOS has a day off out of the mental hospital, so he’ll be in attendence. Should be quite interesting…

And now, I’ve got stuff to do. Meeting with Mr. Drama Queen in 5…4…

Love to all!!
