Tomorrow’s my birthday and SexyPants has something up his sleeve. He asked me if I wanted to know what it is and I said no, I wanted a surprise. I have no idea what it could be.
I never ask for anything for my birthday or really ever, however I hinted around that I wanted the Nike+ Fuelband. Anybody else have one of these? I know some people who wear them and they love them. I also know some people who have them and wear them and still don’t know how to work them. But I read some reviews and think that it will help me to get back on track with my workouts and such. Fingers crossed that this is what is up his sleeve!
I’m pretty sure there’s something else as well. Wonder if we’ll go someplace. He did ask me if I could leave work early tomorrow and come to his place by 4. I told him I’d try. I wish he’d asked me that sooner, because I’m getting ready to take some sneaky time out of the office what with the interview next week and all, but hell, it’s Friday and it’s my birthday, dammit.
My brother wrote me the nicest email from China for my birthday. It was a great read! He is so protective of his ladyfriend, and I love that. He went with her to get her wisdom teeth out and he told me that it’s just horrible the way they do it over there: some novocaine, two big guys and a sledgehammer. He said his poor girlfriend is constantly working and 5 minutes after they knocked her teeth out, she was on the phone with her boss! Poor thing. I wrote my brother back and asked what she does. Whatever it is, she is either very important or she works for assholes bigger than I’ve ever worked for! Regardless, really nice to hear from him lately.
I’ve been given the honor of writing a letter to SP’s BFF’s daughter, who is wheelchair-bound due to a spinal cord injury caused by a car wreck. It is the 3rd anniversary of her accident on Halloween (she got into the car of a drunk semi-stranger and he had a horrible wreck). Anyway, she’s doing amazingly well and in the last few months has opened up a rehabilitation center for spinal cord injury patients. Her mother has asked all of her close friends to write a letter to her, and I want to write something unique and fun. I believe that every other person she’s asked to write knew her before the accident, but I have ONLY known her after her paralysis. I want to somehow convey that I only know the CURRENT person and I didn’t know the “before” person, and I’ve always thought she was and is amazing. I don’t know how to say it succinctly and in a way that is not condescending or goofy. I have a few days to figure this out. But not long! Help?
I gotta stock up on extra special kitty stuff to see if the Tan Man can handle some changes in his diet. Last night/this morning he woke me up at 4am. Normally, he goes right back to sleep after some cuddles. This time he was having nothing to do with it. He made sure I got up, dammit. So we have had an early morning of it. Poor guy. I want him to be complication-free. I don’t know if I can provide that. Guess the best I can wish for is poop-free. I don’t know if HE can provide that.
Whelp. I need to do a couple of things before I break out of the office. Then I gotta call the headhunter. We are arranging for my interviews next week.
See you in my mid-40s! Wheeeeeeeee.
Love you!
