Happy Election Tuesday!

I coudn’t find my voting place today. I circled and circled the neighborhood, thinking that there would be a bunch of cars and a bunch of people. I google-mapped and googled some more and even employed the use of radar and sonar…wind and smell tests! Braille!? Nothing.

FINALLY, after wandering around for 1/2 hour I found myself in the parking lot of a place that I thought was a police office kind of place (the police office is across the street). Many, many spaces to park.

Nobody was there except for a bunch of uniformed people that looked kinda strange. But there I was, at the place I was supposed to be, according to all the websites and googles and smell-locators I could find.

So I walked up to the building and found a teeny-tiny sign on the door that directed me to walk around the building…and then another sign that said “Voting Location” and another sign.

Relief! I was in the right place.

I cast ballot #23 in my district and then I was out of there and on time for work. In and out in less that 5 minutes. Fun and Easy.

Something strange has been happening to my LinkedIn account. Well, sort of. See? I have been doing a lot of research on my potential new employer and the people who work there, so I’ve clicked on several profiles…including one of the guy who left this position to pursue other opportunities.

Guess what? In the last two days I’ve gotten LinkedIn requests to connect from both someone who works for the prospective company in a different area than the one I’ve been interviewing for (I bet she’s interviewing internally) as well as the Director who held this job previously!! Weird. I’m not accepting OR declining the invites just yet. I’m just watching to see what happens.

I’m just not sure how they know my name? Is it because I’d clicked on thier profiles? Or they shared my resume? And why do they want to connect with me? Do they have a message for me or something? Couldn’t they just send an email without connecting? I’m just so curious!

Isn’t the workplace so interesting now that Linkedin is around?

And you know how I was hunting for something exciting to write about? Here’s something really exciting: I booked a trip to Hawaii for the second week of December! I know, it’s not alllll exotic like Argentina (my proposed honeymoon) or Bora Bora or something, but I’ve never been to Hawaii and the flight is free and some of the lodging will be free, and…why not?

The ticket is on hold, but I’m about 85% sure I’m going.

So there’s something!

I went to a seminar once about how to be a happier person or somesuch thing like that (you know I love those things, right?), and the guy said to always have a vacation planned. That way, when you’re going through the drudgery of the day-to-day life, you will always have something to look forward to. So true! I’m excited just thinking about it!

OK. I need to grab some snacks and go home to read my diet book!

Love XXOO!
