Having a wonderfully refreshing weekend. It’s cool outside, so it’s nice to be indoors and sprucing up the place. I’m now fully in the middle of several projects, and that makes me feel like I’m making some progress towards a post-Tanner place.
I realize now that he had declined so much in the last 6 months of his life that I had turned this place upside down to try to keep him comfortable. But the thing is, this place was a mess with treats everywhere and his bleeding wound, his fur everywhere, and worst of all, his bowel issues. Sorry to be so graphic, but he was just an old, old cat (always, ALWAYS lovable and I loved him dearly to the very end) who had major issues.
It was truly his time. I know for sure he hung on for me. He waited until I got home so that he could have a bit of time with me. Oh, I love him and miss him. It was one month ago today.

Tried a new boot camp workout yesterday and LOVED it! It was in the new city park. What a gorgeous place. It’s a private park so it’s incredibly well maintained. I believe they’ve worked a lot of kinks out since the grand opening (like the dog poop smell), and it’s just a joy to go there and hang out. Best time is early in the morning when it’s not too crowded. Sometimes when I drive by in the evenings it is just wall-to-wall crowded with people, so I think I’ll be sticking to 9AM Saturday workouts/walks, etc.
So, the bootcamp is free and open to the public, so I had no idea what to expect (i.e. pervs and hobos?), but it was so very cool – great instructor and fun group of people. I believe that maybe 10% of the approximately 40 people were first-timers like me and the rest have been coming for a few weeks now. It’s hard-core but so much fun and I felt like I’d done such a great thing when it was over.
Today I’m sore, but I can’t wait until next Saturday!!
Also, several very nice people introduced themselves. I can see how this could be a potentially great way to meet new peeps!
The other new thing I tried this weekend was a gel nail manicure. I can’t believe I hadn’t ever tried this before. Anybody ever had any issues with gel manicures? There doesn’t seem to be a downside to them, and my nails have never looked better!
Also, went to see the movie The Place Beyond the Pines last night with SexyPants and SOS. It was pretty disturbing, especially for SOS who walked out halfway through the movie and walked home. It was actually good that he didn’t see the last half of the movie, because it involved 2 teenage boys his age and the shit that they get into seems to hit waaaay too close to home. Heavy.
SOS is still a shit, but I can tell he’s had lots of coaching from his dad recently, and was very, very sweet to me yesterday. I take it day by day with that kid. I do have hope for him, I really do. But ever cautious, I am. I do not apologize for being cautious. Don’t know if it’s the right thing to do, but it feels the most right for me.
OK, gotta run. Need to meet SexyPants at his house for a little rendezvous!!
