If you are tuning in looking for the result of last weeks quote comp, you will have to wait untill tomorrow. The reason?
I am in shock.
I was wondering around town, went into Cash Converters and saw on one of the TV’s the news that a plane had crashed into the World Trade Centre. I got home to discover that the twin towers no longer exist. And to think that earlier on today, all I could think about was the Stanley Kubrick DVD box set which I’ve seen but cannot afford.
Shit.
NOTE: from here on out, what I say is not meant to take the piss or make light of the situation. It is an incredible tragedy and my heart goes out to everyone who has lost or is merely worried about a friend or loved one.
Having said that, does anyone find it incredible that the word terrorism is linked with this? When you hear about terrorism, you think of bombs (Omagh, Oklahoma). Where you hear about an aeroplane involved, you think of incidents such as Lockerbie.
But for four planes to have been hi-jacked and used in such a way? In one day? Sure, it would not be out of place in a James Bond film or a book, but for it to have actually happened? That is, in a word, breathtaking. Stunning is another word that springs to mind.
Another thing to note is how Bush proceeds with this will determine his Presidency. How he is seen by the world, and indeed in the States, will be decided by how he handles the situation. If it is handled well, he could secure a second term in office.
