Watching Ally McBeal last night, an interesting ethical question was put. I want to know what you think.
A prisoner, serving life for murdering his wife, has a daughter who needs a heart transplant. If she does not get the transplant in 6 weeks, she will die. Her father is a match.
The man wants to be killed and his heart used to save his daughter’s life. The case against this argues that this is a form of euthanasia, and therefore is against the law.
So what do you think? Should a person in this position be allowed to die in order to save another life?
Leave a note, let me know.
Will
P.S. in the episode the man, convinced he was going to lose the case walked into a hospital, handed over his donor card and shot himself.
