”On rencontre sa destinée souvent par des chemins qu’on prend pour l’éviter”

(Destiny is often met in the paths we take to avoid it.)

-Jean de La Fontaine

The date on Wednesday didn’t happen. The weather turned to shit, Cassie’s daughter had school drama. Their internet went out when she had deliverables due for her dissertation. All that was happening Tuesday night while I was in class.

She got panicky on chat - thinking I thought she was backing out. But I get it. Things pile up and the last thing you need is the pressure of meeting someone.

Supposedly I have the next two weeks off. Truth is I don’t have to go to class. But I have things due the day after Christmas, the Sunday after Christmas, and the day after New Years. I don’t know how that counts as a break other than I don’t have to get out of gym clothes.

I did the “big buy” at Wal*Mart today. I have the makings for both Marinara and Lasagna for Christmas eve. As far as I know I don’t have a drop of Italian blood in me, yet we have signed on to Italian food for Christmas eve thing a la the feast of seven fishes.

I bought gift cards mostly, and some groceries. I ate substantially into my reserve. But it happens every year around this time since I have been unemployed.

I wouldn’t have gone to see “The Interview” even if the North Koreans hadn’t showed us what lily-livered weak-kneed pansies liberal Hollywood actually is - I might have put it in the queue just to try to figure out where Lizzy Caplan got that amazing rack.

She’s been kinda flat chested in everything else she has ever been in - so she’s got some work done, or that is an amazing bra!

My Christmas present for the parents is a Lobster Mac and Cheese casserole. As it has been for the last three years. For the bean it is going to be a gift card.

For myself I have to count a new printer, a new monitor, two repairs to my car. Droid Max - but I didn’t have to pay for it - just sign on for another 2 years.

I’m rejoining the local gym.

I figure if Cassie can do as much as she does, I can certainly do more than keep up with TV shows.

New years closes in on the last few sessions in the last class for the MBA. Time to start looking for a job.

Two days until the solstice.
