Wegovy Day 1 in Weight Loss 2026

I thought it wasn’t going to happen because my labs are perfect and my insurance wouldn’t cover weight loss medication without comorbidities, BUT my primary suggested she prescribe me Wegovy, and we decided to go with the pill because it’s the cheapest option. It’s also the newest- it was released to the public early January. They’re supposed to come out with another med that’s allegedly better than anything on the market later this year, and I think that’s exciting because the more options out there, the cheaper the prices become.

Theoretically.

Getting my prescription was pretty easy- I filled my script with Sam’s Club because as far as we know that’s the only pharmacy in my area that has it. With the manufacturer’s coupon off their website, I was able to get my script for $149 for the next 3 months, and then $199 the following two months. After that, I’ll need to reapply for a new coupon.

Unlike the shot you take once a week, the pill you have to take every day on an empty stomach, so first thing in the morning. You can only take it with 4oz of water, which is about half a cup. You then must wait 30 minutes before ingesting anything else to allow the pill to dissolve and absorb.

So this is day 1 for me! Starting weight: 246, size 14/16 jeans, size L/XL tops. My goal weight is 170.

My biggest motivation isn’t necessarily to be skinny and beautiful because I’m happy and confident in me today for the most part. We all have our self-criticisms. I like how I look. But I’d like to lose weight because my weight just isn’t healthy on my knees and joints. I’d like to try and get the weight off before I get older and it’s even harder to do.

And this may sound like a silly reason, but about 5 years ago I was asked to get off of a roller coaster. I’ve never in my life experienced that, and it was mortifying. We are big amusement park people, and ever since then my son has had a hard time understanding why I just won’t even attempt to get on certain attractions because he’s used to Mom being a part of every single thing. The Mom he knows doesn’t miss a beat. And the thought of being just able to fit uncomfortably is terrifying. If you’re a roller coaster fan, you know that the restraints usually click a few times when they lock… For me, to pull down my harness and only hear one click and trust that that’s good enough is absolutely out of the question. Haha.

I’m tired of missing out because of my size. Especially when I see people bigger than me, though squishier than me, getting on when I can’t.

I just want to feel confident in life again. Not in the mirror, but in life. I don’t know if that makes sense, but those two things are not necessarily one and the same. You can be confident with your looks, but not with your ability. And while I do think I’m fairly attractive, I just don’t feel physically able to life the life I want in my current body.

So, here’s to day 1… so far, so good.
