Happy Thanksgiving, loves.
I have to be at work in less than 12 hours grumble grumble
At least I didn’t have to be there NOW.
Work at Sephora is going well, regardless. I like it there. I really do hope they keep me on as a permanent worker past seasonal. Really though, I’d hope to get 20-25 hours a week or go full-time. We’ll see. I’d like to have a job I enjoy for once.
My shift last night was great. I was called out (in a good way !) because even though I was at cashwrap, I kept selling extra stuff to customers (not because I like selling, but because I’m a product whore and was suggesting awesome stuff to people that were buying enough that I figured another item wouldn’t make difference). After selling not one, but 2 hair dryers to a lady (that actually wasn’t my goal) and a lot of hair accessories, the ops manager, Amanda, came over to me and said, “Seriously, girl, how did you do that ?” I shrugged and said “I just do things and stuff happens” and laughed. She relayed that awful (but funny) quote to the entire store.
I even got several “Sephora bucks !” I’m also pretty good about not being afraid to pick up the phone (since I’ve done it for years at previous jobs) and cleaned up the cashwrap and generally was able to handle myself during even more complicated transactions. The Sephora bucks are things I can use to redeem for gratis (free products) and before I left, Jamie (kind of like the assistant manager) said it was unusual for someone to get several in one shift and that I was really going above and beyond. So… I’m making sure people know me :)
Also, a week ago I finally had my hair cut and the girl I booked the appointment with (it’s a salon nearby) said she was best friends with one of the girls at Sephora named Kat, and so Kat found me last night and talked with me and was like, “My best friend Maddie said she cut your hair and I just had to say hi to you !” She told me she was hired as seasonal with no makeup training and now she’s been at Sephora for 4 years and got training through the company. I can only cross my fingers that my own story continues in the same way.
Cori and I celebrated Thanksgiving ourselves, but very traditionally. We made all things and have leftovers for days XD
Ughhh I’m going to have to go to sleep in like 2 hours if I don’t want to DIE tomorrow. This will actually be the first time I open on Black Friday (except in 2012 at 7 For All Mankind, but it was quiet and we didn’t open until 8 AM anyway). I do wish stores would stay closed on Thanksgiving, but now that it’s happening, it’s not going to stop.
I Skyped with my parents, brother and sister-in-law, and the little nieces. Julie gets more of a kick making faces at herself, while Maggie is too young to get it. I do wish I could’ve gone back for Thanksgiving, but… oh well. And Christmas. Oh well.
