I am a big fan of ONSTAR even jokingly referring to it being my higher power. Saturday evening Doris were southbound on the Garden State Parkway headed to mi SIL Beverly’s house. Every year the siblings of my deceased wife hold a Christmas dinner where her Brother and two sisters meet annually. This year was supposed tom be my year to hose but uncertainty about my house and also Beverly having a new house changed the plans.
It was a rainy dark drive to Manchester NJ but I was using ONSTAR to get us there. We were nearing the exit and ONSTAR advised me to exit at #88, one mile ahead on the right. I passed exit 99 and when I arrived at exit 88 it was closed and barricaded off. OnStar then directed me to exit 82 6 miles further down the road and I had to backtrack on alternate roads an all told added 12 miles to the trip.
I do not know the area well but the locals were all aware that exit 88 was closed. I had to pass the correct exit to get to the closed one.
I enjoyed the party and was very happy with the response from the others to Doris and how well she matched in the group. We went out to a nice Italian restaurant fo dinner and then came back to the house for coffee and desert. The rain had let up and we had no delays or problems on the trip home.
I will be calling ONSTAR to inform them of the glitch.
