A girl from Estonia in Book Two

I met a girl from Estonia. She makes her living by being good-looking. Good gig. She’s a model.
And in Taiwan, most people don’t stare at you, not like in the old days. But I think she gets a lot more attention than I do.

I’m not jealous. I’m old and bald and have bags under my eyes. I have sore feet often as I walk too much 20,000 steps through Monkey Mountain on Saturday, 17,000 steps through Yancheng yesterday.

I spent the day yesterday with my cameras in Yancheng, one of the older parts of the city, where the train used to end and the harbour begins. Lots of little alleys to poke around. Lots of traditional Taiwanese food and shopping. Lots of activity, the old economic centre of the city. I’m going back today.

And I find it hard to believe that I have only been back in Taiwan for two weeks. This time two weeks ago I was speeding south on the high speed rail. I don’t miss my old life at all.

As an aside: it is interesting that in Taiwan city centres move. They start somewhere and then shift to a new spot. In Kaohsiung, we are on our fourth, arguably fifth with centre iteration.
