The Nightmare in We're Still Here...

I had a nightmare that my husband's mother, without knocking, came into the bedroom we're currently staying in at her house. My husband and I were laying on the bed together and she waltzed right in. I immediately leapt from the bed, screaming "why the fuck did you come into this room without knocking!?"

When I woke, my head was pounding as if I had been screaming in the waking world and not just a nightmare.

I do not appreciate that this woman has infiltrated my inner world.

No doubt this nightmare was related to the latest fridge shenanigans yesterday.

My husband went to pour me a glass of apple juice and noticed something was off about the juice. It looked cloudy, he said. He took the bottle out of the fridge and asked his mother "What happened to the apple juice?" Her response was that she poured all of the juices into one bottle to make room in the fridge.

To make. Room. In. The Fridge.

I cannot begin to express the level of fury I experienced upon hearing this demented tale from my husband. I was grateful I was not witness to this exchange.

My husband proceeded to have a talk with her conveying that what she had done was not cool in the slightest. He purchased organic apple juice specifically for me and for her to do that was not acceptable.

Apparently, she apologized, asked that he apologize to me and gave him her card to buy a replacement. Even that so-called apologetic act was infuriating due to our purposeful and deliberate separation from anything to do with her finances.

I am working hard to minimize my interaction with this woman.

My focus is solely on the following:

- the growth of my remote endeavors, the income of which has been increasing

- my husband's current work, and his interviews and job search (to get us out of this state)

- our savings and financial independence

We may be close to leaving. We may be far from leaving. We prepare, we save, we wait for responses post-interview.
