Is that not just the WORST thing to hear from a 4 year old? I don’t know how to get Dante into the spirit of things. I tried to excite him with creating an advent calendar which will start Monday, it’ll have gifts and chocolates in it… I went through so much to make it special and still he could care less.
Today I bought him Elf on a shelf and although he named him Vinny and made a house for him he still walked away from it.
When I tell him about presents and Santa he shouts that he doesn’t like presents, that he doesn’t like Christmas. Daycare he’s learning about the birth of Christ, about carols, about the wonders of this time of year and yet the other day I nearly burst into tears when I told him we were putting up the Christmas tree on Sunday and he told me “I don’t care I hate Christmas trees.”
Ugh what a headache and struggle… I’m hoping that maybe once the house is decorated that he’ll actually start to appreciate the effort James and I put into making things special for him. I love him and only want him to be happy and enjoy the wonders of being young.
