Today the office held its now annual Trunk-Or-Treat event and third such event overall.  I meant to escape much earlier than I did, being that I wanted no part of this year's festivities.  My plan was to leave closer to 12pm.  I left the office at exactly 4:38pm.

This whole thing was poorly coordinated amongst the work group, which I took as a sign of sorts that no one cared enough to organize this thing in any way, beyond Morie getting all of the food stuff arranged.  Beyond this, the work group had no idea what was going on.  I didn't bother throwing in my two cents, because I didn't care.

Gurney and Fannie decorated the work group's assigned vehicle trunk, because Chortle was pretending to be busy doing who knows what.  She's so damn lazy.  Kyra and Vonda were nowhere to be found.  Nessa is on vacation apparently.  Because there was no coordinated effort to even obtain the agreed upon decorations (for some kind of Dia De Los Muertos - Day Of The Dead theme, likely from Amazon), I think Morie searched the office and found some very basic decorations that had nothing to do with what the work group intended to put together and Gurney and Fannie did what they would consider to have been their best efforts to make the trunk look festive.  It was meager at best, but truth be told, the trunk was decorated, even if on a minimum level.

I was asked to help set some things up, not so much with decorating, but with bringing food, condiments, and beverages from inside the office to the parking lot.  Gloria and I were even tasked with picking up large bags of ice for the coolers outside where the beverages, soda and water, were to be stored.

Everything was slated to start at 4:30pm.  I left eight minutes later, having ducked out through the side door, opposite my side of the office.  Strangely, Morie didn't text me to see if I was still around.  I think she knew that once 4:30pm came and went and I was nowhere to be seen, I was gone.

She was not wrong.  I got the hell out as quickly as I could and made no effort to look back.  I didn't care.

As I helped bring stuff out from inside the office, I bumped into some people I hadn't seen or talked to in a while and I chatted them up for a few minutes.  That would be the only positive that came from today's set-up for this year's Trunk-Or-Treat.  Other than that, I don't think I missed out on anything.

I just didn't care today.

I'm also convinced that I won't care for the 2026 iteration of the department's Trunk-Or-Treat either.
