Today was one of those days where I got up in the morning, energized and ready to take on the day and whatever was just over the horizon. Then as the morning progresses, I gradually find myself losing interest and I don't want to do anything. This is more related to anything connected with work. Maybe I've reached that age where I'm easily annoyed by the slightest of things? My coworkers are buzzkills, for lack of a better term, and their mere presence is more than enough to make me nauseous. By the time the clock hit 9am, I was done with then as well as whatever it was I had hoped to finish. I fought through my lack of motivation for maybe an additional hour or two, but in the end, I was done well before noon. I thought that finishing out the day at home would help and it was, but only minimally. Because I didn't get a whole lot done, I'll have to step things up tomorrow and build upon the little momentum I established today. Actually, I tend to be more productive on Tuesdays anyway, especially after a barely productive Monday, as was the case today.
Jay and I have already delved heavily into Battlefield 6 (PS5), as we have made the conscious decision to steer clear of this year's iteration of Call of Duty. The last time we opted not to play Call of Duty was back in 2016, when Infinity Warfare released that October. There was something off with Infinite Warfare, with the way it moved and the way it generally played, and though we gave it a go for just under two months, we came to the realization the game just wasn't for us and we stopped playing it. Maybe I was burned out on the whole futuristic setting? I don't know. The game just sucked and I didn't want to waste any more time on it. I got rid of my copy of the game not long thereafter and slammed the door on the mess that was Infinite Warfare. That year, we spent time playing Battlefield 1, as well as Titanfall 2. Both Battlefield 1 and Titanfall 2 both also released in October 2016. Both games proved to be considerably better than the mess that Infinite Warfare turned out to be.
Gaming remains slow and has been for several months. Actually, gaming has been slow, at least for me, for the past few years. I suppose that's just as well, as this has saved me a lot of money, since I'm not buying games left and right like I once did. I don't want to get into a long-winded rant in this entry as to why gaming has taken the downturn that it has, but I'll just say that the gaming landscape isn't what it once was and as a result, gaming has started to suck. Actually, it's been mostly terrible for much of this decade.
Well, that's pretty much all I did today. I woke up. Went to work. Tried to work, but wasn't able to get it going. Played Battlefield 6. Wrote this entry.
I'd say that all told, and like Ice Cube once said, "Today was a good day".
Clearly, I set the bar very, very low.
