3) Nessa

Nessa would be one of the two women in the work group with whom I am comfortable working and is someone I would consider to be a friend.  She has been in the work group for just over a year.

Nessa is someone I would consider to be a strong worker, who knows that she's doing, and who does not complain about the job and related work load...that much.  She has a good head on her shoulders.  Maybe this is an age thing, but sometimes she will complain about things that cannot always be helped or fixed.  If I'm guessing, Nessa is in her late 20's or early 30's.

Much like Gurney had done when he was in training, Nessa had also expressed interest in joining the work group when she was officially done with her training.  Just as we thought that Gurney would be a good fit for the work group, Nessa came into the work group the exact same way.  Hopes were high that Nessa would work out, because we had already soured on Gurney.  In the end, Nessa proved to be so much better than Gurney could ever hope to be.  I would consider Nessa to be a valuable member of the work group.

Remember I mentioned that Gurney had bullied and intimidated one of the women in the work group, to where that woman would leave?  Nessa was good friends with her and she knows the real story, details and all.  I will never know that full story and I'm okay with that, because I don't know that I want all those details.  I don't care that much anyway.  What I do know of that situation, I learned from Nessa.  Having said that, Nessa knows what Gurney is all about.  She has a working relationship with him, but I want to say that she maintains strong boundaries with him because she knows what he is capable of.

If there was an issue that I see with Nessa, it's that she has this mentality that all work should be distributed evenly and equally amongst everyone in the work group and if possible, throughout the entire office.  She believes that equity should exist in our office and she's not the only one who believes that this should be a thing.  Equity is not a thing in our office and based on past history, it's not going to be a thing any time soon.

I trust Nessa.  She is aware as to how I feel about Gurney and his little clique.  I'm glad that she was strong enough to have a brain of her own and not become a part of that clique.
