We were home together on a Saturday for the first time in months. I wasn’t fishing or hunting and she wasn’t shopping or grand kiddin. We spent the day together doing nothing. Unbelievable! I had killed a big ole rooster a few days ago. So, I made a sausage and chicken gumbo Sat. I simmered it all day. We had it for supper and Lunch Sunday and for supper Sunday night. Cool weather down here in the 50’s makes me want me some gumbo. I put a pack of gizzards just for some finishing touches. Man it was good. Even if I did cook it. Sorry I don’t share this recipe. It’s a family heirloom. My boys know it and they can cook it too. It’s all in the way you fix the roux. Watched me some SEC football all day. Crochet’ a little on my new grand baby’s blanket who is due in January. Yep I can do granny square type crochet’ing. Been doing it for nearly 40 years. Relaxes me and keeps my hands nimble and not arthritic. Good hand and arm exercise. Lot of fellows cringe when we shake hands. I forget I got a good grip..LOL
All is well on the farm. Nothing new in the way of baby’s. But all rabbits or due soon. Havn’t been fishing in a couple of weeks. going to deer camp this coming weekend. Maybe get some back strap for frying. Will enjoy the camp fire and fellowship. Maybe have a smore or two. Will cook a big pot of something for supper… maybe some steaks over the fire on a screen. Love me some steaks smoked on a open fire. Potatoes wrap I foil thrown right in the coals for about 10-12 min, with all the toppings. Now we talking baby! Listen to the Bama and LSU game on the radio while lounging around the camp fire. Now folks, dat is livin Kajun style. All this depends on if-n the Lord Jesus tarries a little while longer. If-n he don’t, hope see you on the streets of Gold. I will have a Smores waiting on you.
