So todays entry is a book that reminds me of the 80s movie the last starfighter more modernized. Armada by Ernest Cline, the author of ready player one and two (more on that in the honorable mentions)ย
Basically the synopsis behind this book is, main character, Zach is a 18 year old HS senior who's a video game prodigy at a space combat simulation game called armada. Zach is also a bit mentally unstable due to father issues. ย But basically, Armada and the other game that was talked about Terra firma, about a third of the way in is discovered its actually been a training program to train the population of earth to fight an alien invader. Meanwhile the main character finds out his dad who "Died" is actaully alive and is stationed on the moon. Combat, a bit of angsty teenage things, and a crazed General who ย is one of the main antagonists make for a fairly fun story with a few plot holes but TBH thats how Ernest cline writes, but the book is fun enough to overlook the plot holes. It is also narrated by Wil Wheaton who does a good job of narrating. Its about an 8 hour audiobook so its not that long of a book but its fun. I like it more than RPO because TBH..... it feels more realistic. I could see something like that happening. I'd like to see a sequel but i'm happy with how it ended up.ย
Anyways thats number 4. Fun and silly.ย
