I think I mentioned starting the process for cochlear implants quite a while ago. Fast forward to yesterday I had to have a C scan and then my husband and I had a meeting with the social worker, audiologist and surgeon. I was informed that because of the deterioration of my hearing in the last year I qualify for the bilateral implants. She asked me if I wanted to go ahead with this and I was in shock. All I could say was God yes and how soon? My surgery will be on November 17 and the best Christmas gift I could get. I know l Will have a lot of work ahead of me to adapt to them and learn how to hear and identify sounds but I am stubborn and I am ready.
Everyone is home again university is out for the summer and my 17 year old grandson is getting ready for his high school graduation. They have already had the banquet and prom. He looked so grown up in his new suit and not a kid anymore.
Mothers’ day is Sunday so everyone will gather here and from what I’ve been told we will be having food from Swiss Chalet this year. A nice change from KFC.
For those of you who know about the implants I am going with Cochlear Nucleus 8.
