I FINISHED MY MASTERS DEGREE! i handed in my teaching portfolio on 12/10 and my final essay on 12/17. i couldn’t be happier! i feel like i’ve fully accomplished something. the entire reason i came to NYC was to get my teaching degree and become a music teacher. i now feel that i have finally accomplished that goal. ii’m not sure that i have ever felt so settled in my life. my college chapter has finally closed. yes, i will have to continue my education in teaching. that comes with the job. but now i can focus on getting certified in a specific teaching method. i can focus on figuring out what is best for my students. i can focus on getting my professional certification. i am so happy grad school is finished :)

my winter concerts were yesterday and they couldnt have gone better. the only large mistake was from my accompanist. she got lost or something and completely screwed up the first song for my select choir. but the kids stayed with me and we got through it. their other 2 songs were great. other than that, the shows went smoothly! i was so relaxed and happy. i felt so prepared and vey ready for this concert this year. my planning has gotten a lot better. i now need to start looking for my spring concert songs and get ready for my concerts in may lol. oh! the only other problem was one of my special ed classes was on a field trip and they didnt get back in time to sing with their group. they ended up “singing” with the 5th graders and didnt know the songs at all. they did their best and had fun, but i would have rather had them sing for their parents alone or something. it wasnt fair. at least no one noticed the mistakes and my bosses were all very happy. everyone, administration, parents and my field supervisors all said i did an amazing job. my old field supervisor said he was amazed by the difference from my concert last year. he was so impressed with how i ran the concerts, my conducting and how smooth everything went. very happy :)
