However, I don’t think anyone who turned all the work, no matter what the quality, got less than an A. I think the French department thinks of its students sort of like my tiny library thinks of its patrons (except we’re required to call them guests, one of the many harmless things about the good-paying and low-effort job that drives me crazy). This last week was a lot of work, but it felt good to do it and, later, to have done it. The fall class is France Today, and I’m sorry it doesn’t start up until August 25. After that, I can take classes in person, except I don’t know if being cheek and jowl with the 22 year olds would be fun for any of us.
Is my French improving? Probably. Not by leaps and bounds. Most of the movies were films I never would have thought of watching on my own, which was good. The professor commented that I was welcome to take any French class I wanted, but I don’t know what he means by that. Any French class?
