Commercials That Make me go Hmmmmmm in Regular Stuff

I watch a lot of TV. Or I should say my TV is on a lot. About half the time it's on for background noise but I do have several shows I watch regularly. I love "The Voice", "Scandal", "Grey's Anatomy", "Shark Tank", "Million Dollar Listing" and "House Hunters". My guilty pleasure shows are "Amish Mafia", "Impractical Jokers" (both of these 2 shows CRACK me up) and "Keeping up with the Kardashians" (don't judge me!). My background noise shows are usually old sitcoms like "Frasier" and "The Golden Girls". I like a few game shows, "Jeopardy" and "Family Feud" and I must watch the 11:00 news every night. I sometimes watch the news three times a day!

I don't know why I felt the need to share all of this, but I guess I was trying to make the point that I see a lot of commercials. And I just have to say there are a few of them that really blow my mind. To start with, when it did become so normal to discuss our bathroom habits?

I'm talking about toilet paper commercials. It used to be the most risque TP commercial was Mr. Whipple squeezing the Charmin. Now Charmin has the bears and their catch phrase is "We all go so why not enjoy the go?" One commercial shows the dad bear out in the woods, obviously enjoying the go while.reading his newspaper. Yet another one shows the mama bear having to brush bits of TP off of the baby bear's behind since he used the wrong toilet paper.

But this is nothing compared to the Cottonelle commercial. This one shows an English woman going around to different places (the mall and the finish line of a marathon are 2 of the places). They are promoting their new TP/wet wipes.combination for a clean bum. Okay, I just stopped.and went to their site. The spokeswoman is named Cherry Healy and she's.actually a documentary filmmaker. Hmmm, go figure. The promotion is called."Let's Talk about Your Bum". She actually talks to people about the product and then asks if they would like to take it and have a go right now. I guess it's kind of funny but it still shocks me how far they take it

One last one, and its not about toilet paper! It's the new Skittle candy commercial. The commercial shows two young girls (15 or 16 I'd guess), talking about a boy standing several feet away from them with his back turned. One of the girls says something about the boy never smiling. The other girl goes up to him and either taps him or tickles him. He turns around smiling and his whole mouth is full of Skittles, you can't even see his teeth. She grabs him and kisses him hard. When she pulls away, it's obvious she has some taken some of his Skittles into her own mouth. Their line has always been "Taste the Rainbow". Well this particular commercial says "French the Rainbow". Ummm, hello? isn't their target audience kids? Does this seem inappropriate to anyone else?

I don't know, maybe I've just turned prudish in my old age. Maybe I just watch too much TV!

In other news, I got my car back. Another long story for another entry.

I also bought myself a birthday present, the new Kindle HDX. This is a huge deal for me! I rarely buy anything for myself, mostly because I never have any extra money. And truth be told, it's going to take some figuring out to be able to pay all the bills this month. BUT, they have gone so far down in price and yesterday I got an email offering a one day only additional 15% off. I couldn't resist. Oh I forgot to mention that my current Kindle has had a cracked screen for about 6 months now. I am super excited, it will probably arrive on Friday.

Well this was a rather boring entry but it's all I've got : )
