I thought I mentioned her name before.
Lance chooses names. He’s awfully picky. No x’s in names. We went back and forth for a long time before landing on “Lincoln Jay” and honestly I didn’t like his middle name for a long time. I don’t have anything personally.
But now with our daughter coming I really grew to like the unintended theme he did.
So Lance and I went back and forth about Flora’s middle name for a long time, even before Lincoln was a thought. We heard the name Flora on a horror/ghost show on Netflix. The Haunting of Bly Manor.
I wanted to carry on my middle name, which is my moms and great aunts middle name. Marie.
It’s simple and very common but for forever I wanted to do it. Since my teen years.
Lance is very picky about names to the point where I decided it’s not worth it to waste my breath arguing with him since he hates everything I suggest. And I mean everything.
So after Marie I wanted to give her middle name a flower since Flora is Latin for flower. I didn’t like anything. Then one day, shortly before we found out she was a girl, I suggested Elanor as a middle name. I thought it’d be super cute to have a little elegant name for her. Cue husband. He liked it at first and then one day he said it’s too fancy.
I asked him what he had in mind. He said “Flora Sage” and it’s what’s stuck.
Offhandedly our kids will have nature-y middle names since whenever I hear Jay, I think of the bird. Lincoln also has my eyes which are a blue/gray.
And he’s naked trying to climb a window. That’s my cue!
